O Hotel

I really love this boutique hotel located in the heart of Downtown LA. It was recently renovated and has an urban chic feel. It is clean, modern but not so modern that it feels impersonal. The restaurant/bar is full of trendsters but very cool with an easy feel. I can't wait to go back!

I really like this place. The drinks are great and made with exceptional skill and care. But what I really like about this place is the atmosphere. It's cozy, intimate, and relaxing, but at the same time fun and has friendly energy about it. Probably my favorite bar downtown that I've visited.

Ciclavia is a day when designated streets are close for people to bike/walk around and celebrate being outdoors in an urban environment. It brings people together and promotes walking and biking. What's not to love about that? My favorite part is discovering places (by foot/bike) that you never noticed before because you've always sped past it in your car.

When your headed to downtown Los Angeles from the valley, a great metro rail helps the cause. This is one of the cleaner stations that drops you on 7th And hope, which was convenient for me because I had to go to the hotel on 5th and Figueroa. This is another great bar in downtown that has that large dive bar feeling but with a more hip crowd. Los Angeles is an odd city. The area that's basically "the city" is not nearly as fun or interesting as the surrounding areas that also make up Los Angeles. It was fun to visit. Not fun to drive through (which is one of those very true stereotypes - LA traffic = the worst). Something to see at least once, but ...

I love GCM. Within the past few early months of 2014, lots of newer, hip eateries have opened up (raising the overall price point). Nonetheless, you can get a huge variety of foods for relatively good prices-- even groceries. Open seating, too, and free hour validation if you spend $10. It IS pricey if you past that hour point, though, ...
