I work up an appetite to eat well at Marica. Thanks to M knowing his hood and his five stars restaurant, we end up here for a lovely dinner. Prix Fixe Menu: - Buttermilk Shrimp Corncake = Two grilled shrimp atop two buttermilk shrimp corncakes, drizzled with chipotle butter, organic mixed greens. Refreshing and tasty! - Soup du Jour = ...

    Blue Bottle Coffee Co

    9 reviews

If you love your coffee you should stop by this place to indulge your senses... The choice isn't extensive, but then why does it need to be when they do what they do so well? It's delicious and affordable and a great way to kick start your day.

    Ramen Shop

    5 reviews

Some people like to hate on this place, and I totally get why. It's super hipster, not that cheap, and there aren't many actual Japanese people making the food. However, I look past all of that because the ramen they serve is damn good. It's not always the most traditional (kale was in my last bowl of ramen) but I ...

    A Cote

    5 reviews

One of my favorite restaurants in Oakland! This is a place that's great for a date, a girls night out, or to take your parents when they're in town. Excellent food, reasonable prices, and classy ambiance all in one spot. The drink list is surprisingly long for such a small restaurant. No matter your poison, they'll have something to please ...

    Pican - Oakland

Fried chicken to die for. Pican is in downtown Oakland. The ambiance is quite nice inside. Upscale restaurant, and the pricey menu to show for it. I had the fried chicken that they are known for. It's a breast and leg, with a $2 extra charge table side truffle honey service. I think the honey makes a difference but I'm ...

This is the best higher end restaurant in JLS. Ask for a seat at the chefs counter! The menu changes every month or so to highlight the best market finds. The cocktails are inventive and strong, too. Dinner for two will set you back about $140 after tax and tip.

    Doughnut Dolly

    4 reviews

I think Doughnut Dolly is a great concept. I lived in Italy for a bit so I loved getting bomboloni from street vendors. My issue with this place is that it's expensive for the size. $3 for a small, filled donut. I'd rather eat three $1 donuts.

    Mua Lounge

    4 reviews

In a nutshell: overpriced fancy American food in a hip Uptown location. I came here with a large group for a bachelorette party. They were able to accommodate a group of 12 and they had a full bar. It was surprisingly hard to find a place that had both of those properties. The decor is really dark but "cool", and ...

    Bakesale Betty

Amazing chicken sandwich! Cute and creative outdoor seating arrangement but not that comfortable! :-( Super crowded and right next to a busy polluted intersection! Lines are super long but they do give you cookies while you wait ;-) Great strawberry shortcake! If you want a comfy area to sprawl out while you eat, avoid the ironing boards!!!

    Wood Tavern

    8 reviews

My wife and I were in the East Bay and were in need of a place where we could sip on a beverage. A friend suggested we check out Wood Tavern. We arrived around 6:45 and found the seating at the bar full. We were about to leave when the hostess walked over and offered to put our name on ...

Delicious, simple concept for a restaurant -- a few types of Mac and cheese that you can customize with breadcrumbs, bacon or veggies. My favorite is the gilroy (obviously garlic infused Mac and cheese). Portions are dense, so I couldn't finish mine, but that just benefitted the people I was with! Desserts are also good!

    Fentons Creamery & Restaurant

I was just here a couple of weeks ago with one of my old best friends from when I used to live and there and it brought back so many memories. We used to go there all the time for the delicious banana splits. Apart from their banana splits they have a great variety of ice cream, from rocky road ...

    B Side BBQ

    3 reviews

Love. Love. Love. B Side BBQ has surpassed my expectation. Those brisket that I ordered was finger-licking good. Side of mac n cheese, acme toast bread, BBQ beans, and pickle veggies was the right amount of food. The pulled pork sandwich was scrumptious as well. Thank you B Side BBQ for a wonderful meal, service, and helpful suggestion. I hope ...

Big thanks to the owners who let my friends and I come in for a last minute meal as they were closing the doors. I'm sure it wasn't the freshest time to go out fo sushi, but everything was still amazing. The Titanic Roll will blow you away by its size alone!

Pizzaiolo is located in Temescal where you'll find this place to have delicious wood fired thin crust pizza. What I like about Pizzaiolo is their ambiance. The place looks small from the outside, but once you are inside the is spacious, lively, cozy, and hip! They even have outdoor seating in the patio. Great for summer days and warm ...

    Authentic Bagel Company

    3 reviews

Delicious authentic bagel sandwich between eggs and bacon is the way to go. This makes a delicious breakfast to start the day. Every time I go to this place, it is always busy and packed with people standing in line ordering those delicious bagels. I must say, their poppyseed bagel is amazing tasty. Conveniently located one block from Jack London ...

    Aunt Mary's Cafe

    4 reviews

A great weekend brunch spot in Temescal. Started off with some coffee and grapefruit juice (they forgot my grapefruit juice) so I drank water instead. We got huevos benedictos consisted of cheddar masa cakes w/poachers & mole negro, served w/house-made Niman Ranch beef chorizo. Everything was tasty except for the mole negro, which was bitter and overwhelming. The sweet potato ...
