This in conjunction with the Acropolis Museum is the key reason to come to Athens. One of those markers in history, something that changed attitudes and disciplines across so many cultures and time periods, the Acropolis gives you a glimpse of what life was like in a very different time and place. I highly recommend going to the museum first ...

A small but great museum with many things too see about greek culture. Probable its main attractive is the fact that on the first level the floor is transparent, and you can see underground ruins!

I don't know why this is so cool, but it really is. The columns are so big and there are only so many left, but the ones that are still standing seem to be doing just fine. A good place to think really hard about how long people have been building things on this planet.

Still standing after over a hundred years since the first modern games, this stadium displays the ultimate spirit of sportsmanship where the prowness of the athletes took center stage without distractions of bells and whistles. Just the athletes competing and the spectators who come to cheer for them.

Actually a ruin inside the Agora complex, the temple is much better preserved than the rest of the area which is definitely ruined. Nothing terribly exciting though. In fact, more people were taking pictures of the lawn of tortoises right next to it rather than the temple.

This museum is absolutely underrated and often overlooked. It is the most modern museum with excellent exhibitions that are constantly changing. It is also at the entrance to Kolonaki where the chic fashionistas congregate. I love the vibe and the staff is knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
