Ever feel like your hotel is watching you as you retreat into the city to explore? This one is....both the rear and front facades of this building near Plaça Urquinaona have eyes poking out of the architecture. Chic, modern rooms are bright and airy with open concept bathrooms. Downstairs, the hotel's bar and restaurant have tasty eats and drinks on offer. Or you can wander outside, and down into nearby Born and eat with the locals in trendy bars and restaurants. When the weather's nice (which is often) the Terraza Chill-Out Space is perfect for a relaxing evening taking in the sunset. The hotel's Saüc Restaurant, run by Xavier Franco, has one Michelin star, but as hotel staff will confide, you have to reserve a bit ahead, or eat in the unfashionably off hours---think dinner very early or lunch very late--which if you're jetlagged, may be your best bet. To try a bit of everything without breaking the bank, reserve a lunch table and ask for the fixed price menu—three courses, dessert, bread, water, and coffee for less than 50 euros—a bargain for a Michelin meal.
The hotel embraces eco-friendly polices like LED lights, toiletries in recycled packaging, and solar panels to heat the water.Recommended for:

Ohla is a hotel you will want to say Hola (hello in Spanish) to time and time again! A luxurious spot for a romantic stay, a classy dinner or even a cooling cocktail at the plush ground floor bar, from where you can watch Barcelona life stroll by. It is definitely worth a visit when you are in town, if only to check out the extravagant exterior (giant eyeballs follow you as you walk around the outside of the dominating building) or the view from the rooftop pool. Located on Via Laietana between the hip Gotico and Born districts – Ohla offers down-town chic within a few minutes walk of the nightlife of the Paseo del Born, the Port and the designer shopping available on the main boulevard of Paseo de Gracia. For dinner as lux as the Ohla Hotel – try the sushi tasting menu at Koy Shunka on Carrer d’en Copons.Recommended for:

The Ohla hotel is designed for those who like the high life. Classy, contemporary and conveniently located straddling two old-town districts of the Gótico and the Born, this hotel really can’t be faulted on service or downright charm. If you can’t afford the rooms but fancy the upmarket experience, take advantage of the fact that from 6pm onwards the hotel’s rooftop pool and chill-out terrace are open to the public. Sip an expertly mixed drink at the boutique cocktail bar or soak yourself in the glass-sided pool, with stunning views over Barcelona’s most iconic landmarks.Recommended for:

Great central location, within a few minutes' walk of the Placa de Catalunya and Passeig de Gracia. The interior is a terrific blend of 19th Century period charm and sleek contemporary designs - echoing the city's obsession with design. Go for one of the larger rooms or suites, if you can, most have stunning views. Another standout feature: the front of house staff, a real cut above what you'd typically expect in a boutique-style property. Very warm and welcoming, but understated and professional.Recommended for:
