Best part of Santorini! It's a little bit of a drive from the main port where the ferry's come in, but worth it if you can get a driver. I would recommend reserving a place in a taxi if you are coming in on a really early or late ferry. Otherwise you can catch any bus, car or taxi going to Oia. This is the town with the old port, a small castle and a beautiful old church. Great place for a romantic get-away.

Santorini is as beautiful in person as the photos we have all seen.
There are so many diffrent cities that are great.
Oia is the main town where everyone gathers to snap sunset photos but there are so many other really impressive things this Island has to offer.
Santorini is actually 5 pieces of land that are connected by water.
It was once an active volcano so when you are admiring the scenery it is actually a caldera.
There are small villages untouched by tourism and mud baths in the middle of the sea that can only be reached by boat.
The thing I love though the most is the black sand beaches.
The water is so clean and is really amplified next to the black sand.
If you are in Greece you must go to Santorini!

Oia is located at one end of the Santorini Island. Is the place where everybody reconvene at 7pm to see to sun sink into the sea. The sky gets orange, red then pink and it's one of the most beautiful scenery you can have on Earth. Most of the guided tours suggest a stop here, but can also get a quad or a scooter and find your way travelling along the coast.

We MUCH prefered Fira (Thira) to Oia. Because we heard so many gret things of oia we had a hotel there as well, no as nice.
Way more stairs, way less to do, more tourists! We had a nice hotel and good meal but it was missing the energy of Fira for us.

We went here in early May and at 20 degrees, the weather was just perfect to stroll around in just a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. We had to take the bus from the main town of Thira to go to Oia, and the ride was around half an hour. A very beautiful contrast between the white-washed buildings and the deep blue sea.

The most romantic (and popular) place where all the visitors goes for the sunset. The first time I was there I wasnt on the right mood and also said "Well, just a good advertising. The sunset is the same everywhere". And yes, beauty sunsets there are everywhere on the world. Even more - when the sun sett down all the people applauded and I laughed - what is the mirracle, the sun sett down for first time for the day.... So prosaic... :)) About a month after I had the chance to go again to Santorini with a group and is turned out that I have to go two times to Oia for the sunset. And then... the first time I saw a sunset i never seen before - the sun became like a molten gold in the sea.... the words are not enough to describe it.
But the day after I was more lucky... I was at Oia again with the second part of the group and we had a dinner in a restaurant "Pelikanos". It was a bit cloudy and the sunset wasnt so impressive, bet when the moon raised... Ok, I'll try to explain what we saw: imagine the Caldera and the only light comes from a big big moon, what is right on the top of Fira... it bright enough the sea too and we were able to see also the silhouette of Nea Kameni.
That was the moment when I felt in love with the island. :))
