Everyone's favourite Greek village. Head down to the peninsula early if you want to catch the sunset - it gets pretty crowded down there!

Best part of Santorini! It's a little bit of a drive from the main port where the ferry's come in, but worth it if you can get a driver. I would recommend reserving a place in a taxi if you are coming in on a really early or late ferry. Otherwise you can catch any bus, car or taxi going to Oia. This is the town with the old port, a small castle and a beautiful old church. Great place for a romantic get-away.

Santorini is as beautiful in person as the photos we have all seen.
There are so many diffrent cities that are great.
Oia is the main town where everyone gathers to snap sunset photos but there are so many other really impressive things this Island has to offer.
Santorini is actually 5 pieces of land that are connected by water.
It was once an active volcano so when you are admiring the scenery it is actually a caldera.
There are small villages untouched by tourism and mud baths in the middle of the sea that can only be reached by boat.
The thing I love though the most is the black sand beaches.
The water is so clean and is really amplified next to the black sand.
If you are in Greece you must go to Santorini!

Beautiful place to watch sunset from but a bit on the expensive side. For hotels if not wanting to set aside your whole budget we recommend Galini or Marias Place

Oia is located at one end of the Santorini Island. Is the place where everybody reconvene at 7pm to see to sun sink into the sea. The sky gets orange, red then pink and it's one of the most beautiful scenery you can have on Earth. Most of the guided tours suggest a stop here, but can also get a quad or a scooter and find your way travelling along the coast.

Beautiful spot on the Island. This area is more expensive and much quieter than Fira, so if you want a more peaceful vibe, this is your place. You can easily take the bus to Fira for a visit.

They said it's the most beautiful sunset on earth. People come in early afternoon to get the perfect spot on the cafe terrace. The sunset is beautiful, but again, the most beautiful sunset is the one you share with your beloved one(s).

We MUCH prefered Fira (Thira) to Oia. Because we heard so many gret things of oia we had a hotel there as well, no as nice.

Way more stairs, way less to do, more tourists! We had a nice hotel and good meal but it was missing the energy of Fira for us.

We went here in early May and at 20 degrees, the weather was just perfect to stroll around in just a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. We had to take the bus from the main town of Thira to go to Oia, and the ride was around half an hour. A very beautiful contrast between the white-washed buildings and the deep blue sea.

The most romantic (and popular) place where all the visitors goes for the sunset. The first time I was there I wasnt on the right mood and also said "Well, just a good advertising. The sunset is the same everywhere". And yes, beauty sunsets there are everywhere on the world. Even more - when the sun sett down all the people applauded and I laughed - what is the mirracle, the sun sett down for first time for the day.... So prosaic... :)) About a month after I had the chance to go again to Santorini with a group and is turned out that I have to go two times to Oia for the sunset. And then... the first time I saw a sunset i never seen before - the sun became like a molten gold in the sea.... the words are not enough to describe it.
But the day after I was more lucky... I was at Oia again with the second part of the group and we had a dinner in a restaurant "Pelikanos". It was a bit cloudy and the sunset wasnt so impressive, bet when the moon raised... Ok, I'll try to explain what we saw: imagine the Caldera and the only light comes from a big big moon, what is right on the top of Fira... it bright enough the sea too and we were able to see also the silhouette of Nea Kameni.
That was the moment when I felt in love with the island. :))

Santorini is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Northern section of Island is home to the village of Oia, the most beautiful and picturesque settlement of Santorini. Oia offers its own set of historical monuments and landmarks with a taste of this Aegean Island. Village is full of character and contains some very impressive sights. One of the most famous Oia landmarks is Kastro, ancient fortress. Place well-known from Greece postcards and commercials. This is one of the spots that you would never forget. http://www.santorini360hotels.com/landmarks/oia

This is the city you see on all postcards of Greece. It has the quintessential white houses with the cerulean blue water backdrop. Though it's overcrowded with tourists the place is worth a visit.

Cute town with a few shops. A narrow street leads you down to a small fishing port. On the way down, I saw a few donkeys, one of which was carrying a refrigerator!

By far one of the most beautiful towns I've ever visited. The town of Oia overlooks the water and the white and colorful buildings make this cliffside town magical . Start off your Oia experience right by riding the donkeys up the cobblestone roads to town. It will feel like you're about to fall of the edge of the cliffs but rest assured it's a safe and fun ride. Enjoy a 6euro cappuccino on the terrace overlooking the blue domes and water and don't forget to bring a glass of wine and some treats to watch the sunset. Love and romance is always in the air in the beautiful picturesque town of Oia.
