Old Ebbitt Grill is quintessential Washington, DC. It's the oldest watering hole in DC. It's pretty much packed all the time, generally with a mixed crowd of young and old. As soon as you walk in, you can feel the history. From the historical paintings to the stuffed animal heads (including a walrus!)

I used to go here for happy hour as an intern. The seafood and drinks are awesome.

This restaurant is the place to go for that quintessential DC experience, they have all things dc past and present hanging on the walls and the location is second to none. The space is big enough that you don't have to wait 2 hours for a table. After a long day of museums and the mall-- the is the place to go for bring your DC experience full circle.

I mean...it's a really popular place, they have a kids' menu and it's full of history. The clam chowder was fine but not outstanding. Actually, everything we had was just fine. We waited an hour for a table for 'just fine'. Meh.

this place just screams delicious american food! very richly appointed, visited by folks from all walks of life. they used to have valet service when you visited, not sure anymore about that. great food & a comfy environment! stop by, you won't regret it. it isn't the Olive Garden, so don't expect those prices, but you will feel like you got your money's worth.
