I love Old Town because it's perfect for a couple hours' walk or a spot to meet friends and grab a couple of margaritas. The architecture of the historical buildings, of course, is what adds the most charm to the area. The arched alcoves, plaza style, and brick paths set up the perfect backdrop for a relaxing stroll from candy shop to small museum to combination museum and tobacco shop. The food in the area is good enough and often features handmade tortillas, but I wouldn't say that it's the best Mexican food in San Diego. Old Town is great for enjoying the beautiful local weather and some small bites of local history, although it's more of a last half-day in town or afternoon stroll type of a San Diego attraction.

When it's Cinco De Mayo, all the locals come here to drink and eat tacos in the Old Town of San Diego. If you want to see how San Diego looks like when it's discovered and learn the history of the development, this is where it's at.
