This is my favourite camp in the Kruger National Park, simply because of the astounding view from its terrace. People think safari is an expensive holiday, but self drives through the Kruger are within most people's budgets, and San Parks, who operator the Kruger, are fighting a frontline battle to save the rhino from poaching on a daily basis. Every stay here helps fund their efforts. And all you have to do is drive around and look at some of the best game viewing in the world.

Another one of the larger government-run camp inside Kruger, this one has one of the more dramatic settings; on the top of one of the highest points in this area of Kruger, with views from the main buildings (as well as a handful of lucky chalets) going for many many miles across the bush. Steep drops down to the Olifants river, with hippos basking far below. As with most of the government-run camps inside Kruger, how nice your room is depends on what you have booked, as this camp has everything from campsites to large chalets. The decor of the actual buildings is the spartan standard for these camps, functional and not much beyond some walls and a roof; thatch roofing, tile flooring, a nice clean bathroom, as well as usually a small veranda and a kitchen equipped with the basics as well as access to a bbq area - which is a good thing as self-catering will likely be much more palatable than the rather basic food available in the restaurant - the one here is particularly chaotic in my experience, with ultra-lackadaisacal staff not helping whatsoever.
