Located in just a stone’s throw from Michigan Ave., Omni Hotel is close enough to pretty much anything you need. Pizzeria Uno isn’t too far away, if you’re feeling like stuffing yourself with Chicago’s original deep-dish pizza, and Pippin’s is a decent, nearby old-school dive to have a beer.

The décor of the hotel features a lot of dark woods and shiny marble, coming off as an updated take on vintage styles. It’s definitely nice enough, though it honestly didn’t feel exceptionally inviting. The rooms are an extension of that style. Lots of browns, and I’m sure conservative customers will really go for this. One plus is that they’re pretty spacious, and have suite-style layouts.

The vibe here is business professional, but the outgoing staff made me feel right at home. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. For stellar views of Michigan Avenue and the lake, ask for a room facing east on one of the higher floors. Guests also have access to a gym, complete with pool and hot tub. Even if you're not a guest of the hotel, it's worth it to stop in to the 676 Bar, with really nice views of the Mag Mile, to fuel up while power shopping.

My mom and sister stayed at this hotel when they came to visit last summer and they were really happy with their room. One of my favorite features is the separation between the living area and the sleeping area, each with an entrance to the bathroom. The arm chairs are really comfortable, and there's a tiny kitchenette with coffee maker and mini fridge. The roof deck looks great, and the fitness area is quite well maintained. The staff is warm and welcoming as well.

Omni's front entrance is steps off Michigan Avenue and in a great location for eating, shopping, and people watching.

This is an all-suite Omni in a prime Mag Mile location -- the one that used to play host to Oprah's guests. Even the smallest room (suite) is huge and comfortable, with flat panel TVs in rooms adjacent to the bedrooms, with 1.5 bathrooms minimum. You'll never be parched here, because everywhere y ou go there are kiosks offering glasses of flavored waters: strawberry mint, lemon, cucumber and straight up chilled springwater. Its pool is fairly small, but notable just for existing in Chicago. No steamroom or sauna. The restaurant is really very good: nose to tail and farm to plate, everything is concientiously sourced on the always-changing menu. The gym is not large; not huge, but in addition to the standard cardio has weight machines, free weights and other acoutrements, like medicine balls and mats to stretch on. Attached to the gym, there is a large L-shaped sundeck with nice wicker loungers for the more clement months.
I felt totally welcomed and taken care of the entire time I was here, even though I was booked concurrent with two medium sized corporate groups. I would recommend this hotel, especially considering the price to location quotient.

The Omni Hotel is definitely one of the best hotels in Chicago. The select guest program made more of a difference than I imagined when it came to perks. Breakfast could have easily been $50. The check in went fast and smooth, and there was quite a line in front of me. The staff was prepared though, and everything went friendly and smooth. I am thinking training is a focus here. Plus, they serve Starbucks coffee which is a huge plus for me because some hotel coffee can be week and not so flavorful. The beds are like heavens feather, and there is free wifi! Amazing place, and so easy to get a good nights rest!

Although the Omni is always a great choice, for some reason the bf felt like it would also be haunted.

It wasn't. It was simply a fantastic hotel in a fantastic location in the heart of Chicago where you want to be if you're a first time visitor. Let me qualify this for a moment ... having been to Chicago several times for different occasions, I've come to discover that the whole Michigan Ave, Rush St, Lincoln Park thing is cool, but it's only a small part of what Chicago is really about. All those times I complained about having to go further than 2 miles from the area I was missing out on so much outside of what tourism has become of Chicago.

One take on the Architecture Tour will show you all the other neighborhoods you're missing out on.

Regardless, the Omni is nice, high class, great accommodations and very attentive staff. In most cities it's one of the best hotels and in Chicago it's no different although I make a convincing argument for some great boutiques I've had a chance to stay with. The restaurant has pretty good fares so room service would also be on par, but be prepared to pay a premium for having it in your room versus just coming downstairs, even if you're not dressed up.
