Yes, it's overpriced, and yes, it attracts a wanky and pretentious crowd, but for a sundown drink or light meal on the harbour, you can't do much better than this bar on the lower-level concourse below the famous Opera House. Fabulous views.

Great place where the newly paid come to spend their paychecks with good conversations and expensive cocktails. Against the backdrop of the Harbour bridge, you'll find finance types, miners on leave, and everybody in between enjoying the views. The music here turns up later into the night but overall it's a place to kick back and relax with friends or meet new people.

Well, it's hard to beat the view from here, and there is often ample seating for everyone, which makes it a good spot. However, there is nothing special about the overpriced drinks. There is often live music here, but it's not really a draw --more of the background music type of performers.

Located on Sydney Harbour, just outside the Sydney Opera House and across from the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera Bar is a fantastic spot to enjoy the surrounds on your first (or any!) day to Sydney. Enjoy one of the many local Aussie brews on tap while seated along one of the many tables lining the water. Combo the Essential Sydney Opera House tour (a must do!) with a pre/post stop at the Opera House for a three-tiered tasting plate. Full of fresh eats - think tuna, zygotes, oysters and more - it's a great way to indulge while lounging in the sun! Don't miss this stop!
