The main drawback is that it is not located right on the beach. If you can get past that it is a really nice place to stay and gives you a lot more space than a typical hotel room if you are with family or a large group. The price is great for what you get and everything is very nice. Excellent location that is walking distance to old Lahaina town and good surf spots also walking distance.

A couple blocks off Front street with lots of basic rooms this is a good value. They have two pools and good landscaping.

The Aina Nalu is conveniently located a few blocks from down town Lahaina and maintains a very private feeling. There is a strong sense of seclusion despite the proximity to the bustle of Lahaina. There seems to be more pool security than necessary for such a small resort. With no beach access near by, most visitors here are looking for a comfortable place to snooze after a full day of traipsing around Maui’s west side. There is a really great activities coordinator who can help you figure out where to rally next. All the hotel personnel were exceptionally pleasant despite being busy at the peak of the season. Rooms were quite basic and a bit dark, but provided the essentials in good working order. Not an epic destination, but very practical and affordable.

X marks the spot when it comes to the Outrigger Aina Nalu hotel. It's hard to miss this cross shaped property, conveniently located in the heart of Maui's "historic" Lahaina town. Not only is it one of the few hotels in downtown Lahaina, it's also one of the few hotels not directly located on a beach. Because of this, don't expect ocean views or beach-side mai tais. However, do expect short walks into Maui's most popular shopping and entertainment district. Also, do expect Outrigger's high quality in service and amenities at a very affordable price. There are no restaurants on-site, but no worries, brah! Just walk a few blocks west and you'll be wining and dining while watching the sun set over the beautiful Pacific Ocean.
