A great location right on Waikiki Beach and close to a very popular surf spot, Pops. I love the open air lobby and Hawaiian designs of the hotel. It really maintains an island feel and the friendly service adds to the aloha spirit. Some great places to eat are Kani Ka Pila Grille, Ocean House Restaurant, or Shorebird Restaurant where they have great mai tai happy hours and free karaoke in the evenings.

I had an awesome stay here. I was in town for a wedding and most of the guest stayed here. It is very close to Waikiki and everything you would need is with in walking distance. And the hotel is right on the beach! The room I stayed in had a small outdoor balcony/patio with a small table and chairs if you wanted to sit outside and enjoy the sun. The reception area is in an open area and easily visible. They also have a restaurant here and they serve a buffet breakfast in the mornings. The food and service was good. I think every morning I ate here, I witnessed a morning wedding along the beach. Nice way to start my mornings. Nice location and great service.

I’ve visited the Outrigger Reef many times over the years and am so relieved that it’s finally been massively, thoroughly renovated, although the prices have really jumped up, too. The hotel attracts families, younger couples and the older crowd with moderately elegant and traditional Hawaiiana décor plus standard big-hotel amenities. The location’s great--right on the beachfront and on the edge of the new Beach Walk shopping/dining area. The rooms have a variety of views; if you can afford oceanfront, you’ll almost be able to touch the water. West-facing rooms also have some great ocean and sunset views. Guest-room decor has a vintage Hawaii feel—dark-wood shutters add a nice touch to the ambiance.Recommended for:

This hotel is a great option if you want to be in Waikiki and on the beach.
The rooms are large and comfortable.
If I have one criticism it would be that even though it is on the beach there is actually no beach in front of it.
I know that sounds weird but its true.
There is now a boardwalk that connects all of the beach hotels so what little beach there was is now gone.
I LIKE THE LOCATION THOUGH AND IT IS ALSON THE LEAST EXPENSIVE OF ALL THE WAIKIKI BEACH HOTELS.Recommended for:

This is the place we always stay at when we're here. It's right on the beach, the staff is fantastic, there are high end and reasonable places to eat, You can walk to lots of places from here. And it is reasonable. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Although the hotel is wonderfully updated in every way, it still offers a more traditional and classic Hawaiiana experience. Beginning with the old-style, high-pitched roof entrance holding a suspended antique koa canoe. The large, open-air lobby with intimate seating areas leads to the front desk that’s surrounded by warm wood textures and traditional, canoe-themed art. After a comfortable seated check-in with an excellent staff, the room was a pleasant surprise. It was large with a seating area, plantation shutters separating the granite vanity from the sleeping space, a big lanai with a partial ocean view, and complimentary internet access. The good sized pool is surrounded by tropical/lava rock landscaping. There’s a spa/fitness center and three very nice beachfront restaurants, some offering live entertainment and the hotel has daily Hawaiian cultural activities including lei-making, hula and ukulele lessons.
