I don't understand why people rate two stars for this hotel. How much value do you expect for your money? This hotel is not expensive for such a good location. Rooms are clean, beds are good and the staff is very friendly.

I didn't milk the place for what it's worth, but I do know that the view of the beach from the rooms here is awesome. The staff at the front desk and valet parking were friendly and welcoming. The hotel has an ABC store downstairs, the fish tank in one of their restaurants is pretty cool, it's within walking distance from the International Marketplace, and the beach is literally across the street. I attended a wedding reception here and I loved the food. It was buffet style and I could only finish one plate! The staff also didn't mind when a small group of us hung out in the lobby around 1 in the morning, most of us buzzed from drinks courtesy of the open bar at the reception. The rooms are a bit outdated and could use a renovation, but not bad for a somewhat pricey hotel.

A tad Old Vegas, with 1970s glitz, souvenir shops and lots of bus-tour visitors. Rooms are nothing to write home about, with traditional décor heavy on rattan. However, the hotel has a central location on Waikiki’s main shopping street and across from the beach, and rooms on the oceanfront have great views. There’s a large pool and deck, a spa and the very rare tennis court.
The hotel’s signature restaurant is an Island-themed buffet called The Oceanarium, a local favorite, set around a 3-story saltwater aquarium with more than 400 tropical fish and rays (no, not the source of the buffet dishes!). You can even arrange to snuba in the tank.Recommended for:

Very busy place with lots of shops on the ground lobby floor, giving it somewhat of a mall feel. It’s known for the Oceanarium Restaurant that also offers a large buffet, which is pretty good. The restaurant is a unique experience because it’s centered around an astounding three-story fish aquarium that has twice-daily feedings by scuba divers and a mermaid show nightly. This hotel is a bit outdated, including the lower floor standard room with its mismatched furniture. It had a 37” flatscreen but a charge for room internet service. And not much of a view from the private lanai. The hallways were in pretty bad shape with old wallpaper, banged-up wainscoting, cracked baseboards, etc. Other than the restaurant, nothing really stood out for me. Upper floors with higher-end rooms might offer a much better experience, because the lower floor standard rooms haven’t changed in years.
