Indeed this is one heck of a view while driving on the Highway 1. Just be careful if you happen to drive at night, because it's pure darkness. Only light you'll see is your car and other peep's cars. So don't worry about a..hole drivers who happen to be stuck behind you, tailgating you or whatsoever. Safety is always first!
Highway 1 is beautiful. Riding along the coast is pretty awesome. However, it can be dangerous. There are a lot of sharp edge-y turns, in and out of the mountains and zigs-zags. Make sure you're fully awake!
Driving on the Highway 1 from San Luis Obispo to Monterey was a challenge.
We were glad we made it there safety and will make sure to start early rather than in the afternoon! Darkness near the edge of the coast is definitely freaky! But still beautiful and relaxing.

The Pacific Coast Highway is a classic American drive. James Dean drove it. Clint Eastwood still drives it and even if you haven't drove it yourself, you've seen in any decent movie filmed in California in the last 100 years. If you've never understood why everyone wants to live in California, drive the PCH and you will - it is that spectacular and almost as iconic as Route 66.
