Waking up in this hotel every morning I was in San Fransisco definitely added a lot to my experience! It is a gorgeous place to leave at the beginning of your day and to return to at the end. It's also in a great location; walking distance to any kind of transportation, Union Square is right around the corner, and of course right on Market Street!

This is a wonderful hotel! Waking distance from Montgomery Station, Bart, and centrally located in Union Square.

My favorite hotel in San Francisco. It has the history, the beautiful lobby and an amazing bar. Plus, great room and a wonderful indoor swimming pool. It's in the financial district, with easy walking to Moscone for trade shows. I wish I could stay there every time I go to San Fran. I'm always on the look out for great deals.

SF's Grande Dame #1! Such history - 1906 & Caruso, Woodrow Wilson, Warren Harding, even Khruschev. Even though the structure is a total replacement for the original destroyed in 1906, it retains the elegance of the Gilded Age. Attended many events and conferences here. Good service for same. Garden Court is breathtakingly beautiful. Yet to try High Tea or the Pied Piper's Lounge.

The Palace is a Luxury Collection property with a lot of old world elegance. The location is very central to a lot of great restaurant and shopping options. The Lobby is very grand and spacious. They host a traditional English tea on most days. I really love the beautiful grand staircases that you can take to get to your room if you dont want to take the elevator. I had a beautiful suite with crystal chandeliers, a fireplace and a very large living room. The bathroom had a tub and a shower with high-end bath products. I also enjoyed the pool and and gym facilities that they had. You are bound to have a great stay if you choose the Palace.

Getting tea in the garden room was my grandma's favorite thing to do. Around Christmas time it is worth stopping by for the gingerbread contest and tea.

I just stayed at the Palace for the first time. What a beautiful hotel. My favorite spot was swimming laps on the 4th floor in the Palace's indoor heated pool. I may not have assisted with the Treaty of Versailles in the Garden Court restaurant, but I swam 15-20 laps there each day of my stay, something Woodrow Wilson couldn't do. (The pool was added in 1989).

I slept like a queen in a double bed that I hated to leave behind. The comforter and allergy-free down pillows were heavenly. (I wonder if Tony Bennett ever sang "I left my bed in San Francisco" following a stay here.)

Great location. Close to the union square hustle but not too close to be crowded. Close enough to Chinatown to walk. Easy to get to the wharf and pier 33 as well. It is expensive, but rooms can occasionally be had for $179. I would definitely stay here again if I could get it for the right price.

Description:

Only a handful of hotels in San Francisco deserve the moniker 'icon,' but the Palace Hotel is at the top of this list. The world's largest hotel when it was opened in post-Gold Rush San Francisco in 1875 and rebuilt after the 1906 earthquake, the Palace has seen its fair share of history (including the death of both President Warren G. Harding and the last reigning king of Hawaii). The exquisite stained glass ceiling and chandeliers above the Garden Court have feted afternoon tea and dining guests for over 100 years. However, the Palace Hotel has thoroughly modernized over the years. In a coveted location a short walk from the financial district, Moscone Convention Center, Union Square and AT&T Ballpark, the Palace Hotel has a fully equipped business center, concierge services, an indoor heated pool and services for business meetings in several conference rooms throughout the hotel (as well as fantastical weddings in the Garden Court). San Francisco locals have been drinking their whiskeys and martinis at the famed Pied Piper Bar for 100 years.
