This tramway takes you on a dizzying trip from the desert floor up into the San Jacinto Mountains. In summer, you can hike into the cool pine forest and if you're ambitious, up to the top of Mt San Jacinto (elevation 10,384 feet). In winter, you can rent snowshoes and cross-country skis to follow the trails. Even if you don't ...

An amazing park. Really unique looking desert with the Joshua Trees strewn through out it. Crumbling hills, with boulders rolled out out, and stacked around the landscape. Great for rock climbing, although expect some shredded fingers from the rock faces, as they are rough.

I think the 1st day it was said that there were 80,000 total. Best way to go is with a group of friends. But don't expect ...

Coachella was never on my to-go-list. Didn't really care to go until my friend sold me his week1 ticket 1-2 weeks before the event for early bird face value. I thought it was a good deal plus my bf was planning on going. Definately an experience to remember with no regrets at all! Great people, art everywhere, live bands/djs everywhere, ...

Just south of downtown Palm Springs, this tribla-run park is a paradise for desert hikers. Go early in the morning, which is cooler for hiking and also better for wildlife watching in the canyons' oases, and consider taking one of the Native American-guided walks to learn more about the area's natural history. Don't forget to carry plenty of water, snacks, ...

Although it's faster to drive, you can literally walk from the house, go across Highway 74 and hook onto some of the most fabulous trails that wind through the mountains. There are water fountains at the base and well marked paths. Great for hikers and dogs. Bikers are rarely seen.

Although this is a really small museum about 20-30 minutes away from downtown Palm Springs, there is a lot of history here. They have actual veterans who fought in WWII to tell you what happened first hand. The veterans are all volunteers, but they are so eager to share their story with you. Lost Palms Oasis

Cottonwood Springs, Joshua Tree National Park

I love a hike that involves water, even just a tease of it. And out in the desert, that is pretty much all you'll get. Forget the classic movie "oasis" scenarios. The bejeweled Moroccan camps of camels, dates and belly dancers remain movie magic alone, and far removed from the real life versions you'll find here. Yet Joshua Tree's palm ...
