Palmers Lodge at Swiss Cottage is unbelievable! The stunning property immediately make me think of Harry Potter and question when a house elf would come bouncing out from around a corner or the suit of armour at the top of the stairs would come to life. The knowledgeable staff aim to make your stay as enjoyable as possible always and have plastered the hostels reception area with friendly tips and advice.
Is hostel comes equipped with a huge lounge for guests to collect and socialise within and also is home to a very cozy bar which I can confirm makes a lovely drink.
This hostel doesn't have private dorms, however, they have created a couples friendly room by placing 9 double bunks in one of their dorms enabling couples to stay together and as an added bonus ALL of the bunks at this hostel are made of solid wood to prevent creaky squeaky sleeps. An additional perk which I find super handy is a phone charging station that locks your phone up while you shower or get ready for your day.
Being a 5 minute walk from Swiss Cottage, and a number of grocery stores allows this hostel to not only have the looks. This is a hostel that I would LOVE to stay at, and will seek out other hostels of it's kind in the future.

While I've not had the pleasure of staying at Palmers Lodge; I have had the opportunity to see the facilities and experience the lovely welcoming staff. The hostel is located in a historical building near two tube stations (Finchley Road and Swiss Cottage). Near the turn of the 20th century it was used as both a home for incurable children/ children's hospital and nurses accommodation after the Second World War.
This hostel makes me feel as though the staircases will come to life as it had a magical feel the the building, it stirs childhood thoughts of Harry Potter, Peter Pan, and Mary Poppins.
I almost wish I didn't live in London, as it would give me the opportunity to visit and stay here.Recommended for:

Recently rebranded and restored, the Palmers Lodge is one of three so-called budget boutique accommodations in London that is incredibly well-appointed. Placed on a stunning Victorian mansion, is the beautiful lodge with a tranquil vibe on the residential Swiss-Cottage district three (3) miles from Central London. The lodging features en-suite twin and dormitory style rooms that are generally equipped with solid bunk beds along with a sink and luggage storage with lockers. Great to lounge is the traditional living room set with LCDs TV, leather couches, tea and coffee facilities, snooker table, computer terminals and a small library. Laundry room and parking are available onsite as well as the ‘Scullery Restaurant’ which serves a selection of typical international dishes. Both, a nice continental breakfast and Wi-Fi Internet are complementary. The mansion is just off of Swiss-Cottage Tube Station, near the Hampstead Theater, Odeon Movie center, famous Ye Olde Restaurant/Pub, the Hampstead Market (open Wed & Fri) offering veggies, cheese, nuts, ice cream, and artisanal coffee and small cooked meals.

Housed in an updated historic mansion, the Palmer's Lodge really welcomes you into London with open, grandiose arms. The building itself is actually really neat, and if you're open to sleeping ~12 to a room, Palmer's Lodge is a clean, cozy-but-not-run-down option.
The Palmer's Lodge- Swiss Cottage is not the most centrally located hostel in London. Right on the Jubilee line at the Swiss Cottage station, the hostel is convenient enough to get to from any tube station in London.
During my stay, the bathrooms appeared to be unisex, which ended up not being an issue. There are no urinals. All of the showers and toilets each have their own stalls, so the only thing being shared are sinks and mirrors (which, on a Friday night, can get pretty crowded).
The hostel offers free wifi, free breakfast, good security (key-card access and under-bed lockers for each guest) and laundry. The breakfast is pretty much what you'd expect from a hostel, but around the corner there is a pretty great little cafe where you can get a full English breakfast and tea for around 4 pounds-- highly recommended!
Dining options at Palmers Lodge Hostel include a restaurant and a bar/lounge. A complimentary continental breakfast is served daily. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in public areas. Additional property amenities include an arcade/game room and laundry facilities.
There are 34 guestrooms at Palmers Lodge Hostel. In addition to complimentary wireless Internet access, guestrooms offer in room safes.
