If you want to see pandas, this is the place to do it. Located in the north of Chengdu city, try to go early in the morning as not to miss the feeding, when the bears are most active.Recommended for:Green Travelers

Thirty minutes away from downtown Chengdu. Must get there early in the morning, between 8:00-8:30 to see the giant pandas eating and playing. I guess everyone ones to go to see the babies in the nursery, if you are lucky you will beat the crowds and be able to stand behind the window to take pictures for more than one minute before the guards ask you to move.
The red pandas are quite cute and much more active than the giant pandas so leave the for last.
Go to the Swan lake and feed the fish.

Pandas are so darn cute! This is the place in the world to see the most pandas in one place. You can pay a lot of money to get your picture taken while holding a baby panda. I feel like it's a bit tacky, but this is the only place to do it. I doubt the San Diego Zoo will let you do that with their pandas. Make sure to see the red pandas as well. They're a little bit more rambunctious.

Who doesn't love the elusive panda? Going to Chengdu without visiting the Panda Breeding and Research Center would be a sure miss. Watching the adult pandas graze on bamboo or the baby pandas tumble in the nursery is well worth the visit. At first I aimed to take a picture with the pandas, but after seeing mobs of people pay money to place a gloved hand on a panda overeating branches of bamboo, I decided against it. Even worse, in my opinion is the 1000RMB opportunity to hold a baby panda. I began to pity the animals, exploited like circus attractions. Pandas as bred to preserve their species and can be appreciated from afar.
If you do opt to touch the pandas or hold the babies, keep in mind there are many tour groups ahead of you with the same fetish and you may have to wait a while.
