Hey, it's the Pantheon. You've seen this in every collage that exists of Rome, I'm sure. It should be noted that it is free and pretty cool, considering how old it is. It is also the building of which I won a bet on-- there ARE no straight lines used in the building of the Pantheon! The architects added slight ...

Some of the best gelato I've ever had, and the line of locals busting out the door shows me I might not be the only one. Highly recommended-- great, natural flavor (you can't go wrong with any!). It's a classic place, beloved by tourists and Italians alike. Plus, the men serving you gelato'll make you want to come back twice.

So. You want to hear about the best coffee I've ever had. Well, step right up, folks. I got the classic coffee here (not sure what it's called, but who cares. It's the namesake, you'll know it when you see it). It comes with sugar, so unless you want "no sucre," be prepared for LOTS OF SWEETNESS. But my god, ...

I've eaten my fair share of pizza al taglio across Rome, and I have to say that Pizzeria Florida serves some of the best, no-nonsense slices in town. Prices are low and the flavor is high. The Margherita was particularly tasty, though I suggest not eating it folded lest you want to have sweet juice dripping all over your clothes.

Oh my God, this gelato is AMAZING!!! On my most recent trip to Italy, I went to Grom about 6 different times and tried all sorts of different flavors. By far the best are the Vanilla (SO creamy and flavorful), the Coffee (tastes like creamy frozen espresso), and the Coconut (with dark chocolate chips). Oh man, I'm drooling just writing ...

I met my friend R.V., a Roman for many years (though he prefers to be known as a Florentine), in front of Bassetti Tessuti, Rome's largest fabric store. He was going to take me to his favorite pizzeria, nearby. Hm. Where was it exactly. We walked a few blocks and "Ah, here it is." I ordered a bianco (no tomato ...

Sometimes you just need something light. The chain of Insalata Ricca restaurants have locations all over Rome because they seem to understand this. A large salad for dinner can be just the thing after so much good cheese, pasta and meat, although there is more than salad on the menu. And the prices are very reasonable. When we went, the ...

This is what espresso in Heaven must taste like! All of the hype you've heard is 100% true -- this is without question the single best cup of espresso I have ever had in the world. Yes, the world's best. If you love coffee, make this your first stop in Rome. I literally shed tears in the street on my ...

    Gelateria della Palma

Via della Maddalena , 19/23, Roma, Italia

My friend was curious about the gelateria that had more than 150 flavors-- and this is it. It was good-- not great. I wouldn't revisit, and to be honest--after tasting Giolitti's-- she wishes she hadn't too. So that's Della Palma-- there if you're curious but life is too short for simply ALRIGHT gelato.

Friends Cafe is a lively bar. The crowd is younger (students and 30's). Outside in the square there are local vendors set up so you can shop and then drink! I would recommend heading over there for a fun night out.

Okay, you are used to seeing the gelato shops with overflowing colors and flavors - which may look enticing but I assure you those where they are covered are where you'll find the best gelato! San Crispino has the most incredible flavors. Small servings compared to the heaps you get at other places, but the taste is incredible!

I decided to dine at a touristy restaurant along Piazza Navona just so I could sit beside Piazza Navona like they do in the movies. Aside from the price, I was pleasantly surprised with the experience. The waiter, somewhat absentminded, messed up my order twice. He quickly fixed it and apologized. The food was tasty and the views are amazing. ...

Friendly service and a huge selection of baked goods makes Il Fornaio a great spot for to-go food near the Campo de' Fiori. I picked up some sort of hearty cheese-covered bread and a supplì for 5,84 euros. Obviously my eyes were larger than my stomach, because I was thoroughly stuffed. While it's not the best pizza and supplì around, ...

The setting: the 16th-century Palazzo Lantante della Rovere with its gorgeously frescoed high ceilinged dining room. The food: French (apparently). The entertainment: this is where it all turns a bit surreal - singing nuns, who interrupt the dinner service for some devotional songs. I'm not sure they're real nuns as I saw some of them being met outside by husbands ...

Pizzaré brings Napolitan style pizza, along with appetizers and mains, to Rome in a casual setting. The pizza is very different from the cracker-thin Roman pizza and this restaurant has gotten popular with the locals who appreciate the "import" from their regional neighbor, Naples. In addition to the two Pizzaré locations, Recafe offers a larger menu and a more upscale ...
