Italian run, yet there's always lovely European women working behind the counter. Great coffees, pastries, paninis, and I LOVE their gelato. A really cute cafe feel with outdoor seating available. I believe they offer wine and champare as well and always have fresh orange juice available. On a corner, so it's lovely to sit and soak up the local vibes. A short walk to the center or Little Italy.Recommended for:

Gelato--almost as awesome as Europe. The strawberry was a bit frosty but the fondente was super dark and rich. Nice little outdoor seating area. They also serve delicious looking lunch items. A great stop in Little Italy.

A true Italian cafe right here in SD. This location is close to a bunch of ESL schools so it's almost as if you were actually abroad, unable to understand any of the conversations around you. Awesome!
Their Mochas are creamy, chocolatey, and hot. The pastries are just like you'd find in Italy, and the staff is full of Italian people saying ciao and stuff.

Pappalecco is a neighborhood delight! Friendly service, yummy gelato (sometimes more orgasmic than just yummy), and a Marocchino to DIE for. Imagine nutella dribbled and chunky all around the inside of a glass, and then add a latte. Add a little extra nutella dab on the edge where you drink from, and you're in your own personal heaven. Mmmm...
