Luxury and History come together in what may be our best Hotel stay ever. At over $400 a night, this place is a splurge that is worth every penny. This is the beautifully restored site of a Catholic Hospital/Hostel for Pilgrims and even has its own map and guide to help you walk around and see it all. And of course the Cathedral (and the remains of St. James) is a short walk out the front door and across the Plaza. When we were there last October, the Pope was coming soon and the place was full of energy and preparations. But don't stop at the Cathedral. There's all sorts of historical and cultural discoveries (plus the local University) within an easy walk.
There's a nice lounge and bar area on the Ground Floor that also includes outdoor seating. A nice breakfast is offered upstairs, plus we enjoyed a Galacian Lunch in the "Pub" downstairs. The only downside is that Internet access is limited and you really do need the Hotel's help for parking.
The room was luxurious, the sway was plentiful, and the service was impeccable. Gayle literally felt like a Princess. All I could do was wander around and say Wow! a lot.Recommended for:History Buffs
