    La Palette

This is a bustling café in the 6th filled almost entirely with locals. A real scene; this is a great place for people watching, especially on a Saturday afternoon. Our waiter was aloof, but professional. He even brought water and warm milk for my coffee, without me even having to ask! Is this the Paris we know?

We stumbled upon this little place just off the beaten path. We were warmly greeted and seated. The dining room is just what you expect a tiny family run French restaurant to look like. The ...

    Restaurant du Musee d'Orsay

The restaurant on the 1st floor of the d'Orsay is a wonderful place to stop for a quick meal or snack while visiting the exhibits at the museum. The dining room is absolutely gorgeous with its chandeliers and guilded moldings. The service is swift as am sure they want to get you back to enjoy the museum as soon as ...

    Potager du Marais

If you want a vegan take on traditional French regional cuisine, head straight to the Potager, a small restaurant that serves plant-based alternatives to classics like onion soup and beef Bourginon. The prices are a bit steep (although nothing extraordinary for the Marais), but the portions are much larger than in your typical French restaurant. There's indoor and outdoor seating ...

    Safran Restaurant (Le)

I thought it was a little overpriced, but I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was good, but not great. Also I disliked getting gimmicky bindis after the meal.

19 Place des Vosges. You can have a glass of wine and their famous saucisson au vin under the beautiful vaulting. You can feel the "thingness" of Paris here. The steak tartare is scrumptious here.

    Petit Poucet (Le)

Incredible! Lovely place just outside central Paris on the Seine where you can sit overlooking the river and enjoy an amazing meal. Traditional French favorites but as it is in one of the richest parts of the city also at a pretty price!

    Helene Darroze

Innovative cuisine often involving foie gras, is how I would describe the amazing food served at the namesake of one of the city's champion chefs, Helen Darroze.
