    Musee d'Orsay

This is my favourite museum in the world. Yeah, I know I haven't been to them all but I've hit some of the biggest and this, by far, is my favourite - because it has the most extensive Impressionism collection I've seen in one spot. I really did prefer this over the Louvre. There were fewer people and it's not ...

I.M. Pei's design has become one of the most recognizable symbols of the city. Can't miss on a visit to the Louvre.

    Jeu de Paume

Jeu de Paume is a small museum at the end of the Tuileries that somehow seems to escape the hordes of tourists. Their exhibitions are usually incisive and focused, showing works from the 20th and 21st century. Check the exhibition calendar to see if it piques your interest.

    Point Éphemère

Point Éphemère Is a little artistic space on Canal St. Martin that hosts parties, concerts, exhibitions and festivals. This is not a place where you get perfectly mixed cocktails in a fancy glass- a pint of beer in plastic cup is more likely beverage in here. It's a bit gritty, but music is good here, whether there's a club with ...

Really great collection, especially from the Gothic style (once known as the French style, because the French were considered masters of this style). Worth a look if you enjoy medieval architecture.

Amazing ateliers (workshops) of French artisans making anything from hats, to hand-painted bone china, to umbrellas. I liked to walk the Promenade Plantee above the shops and restaurants in one direction and shop in the other. Makes for a lovely stroll.

Beautiful old chateau hiding contemporary art expositions and residencies on its grounds among the wild and organic garden.

This is where the very best art exhibitions happen. Beware, though, you'll probably face about 4 hours of queues outside, so come early or try to buy your tickets in advance.

I found people (except my friends) pretty negative towards Americans. Can you blame them?
