    Notre Dame Cathedral

    6 Parvis Notre-Dame, Paris 75004 France
    4.5
    573 reviews

A really nice Gothic cathedral. You can go inside and have tours to other areas, but there doesn't seem to be much of a chance for free exploring. I actually enjoyed feeding the birds outside more as they actually land on your hand to eat your food!

    Saint-Sulpice

    Saint-Sulpice, 75006 Paris, France

Dragged from relative obscurity in The Da Vinci Code, Saint-Sulpice is nevertheless a lovely albeit slightly decrepit cathedral in Paris. It's a great place to relax and reflect for a bit in one of the coolest sections of Paris. P.S. Introspection is definitely possible here despite the fact that there is no rose line or Priory of Sion related to ...

    9 reviews

An easy metro ride from the heart of Paris, Basilique Saint-Denis is one of the most important churches in and around the city. For anyone who likes history or has an appreciation for French royalty, this is your place. Its crypt houses some infamous French nobility. But be warned, this is not an area where you should linger at night.

Decided not to go in because of the price and the long line. It's disappointing that so many sites in Paris have an entrance fee. I especially don't understand or agree with charging for entrance to churches, really a shame. If you are an EU citizen or French resident and 18-25 you can get in for free.

It may not be the most beautiful church but I found it very interesting. The mix of traditional stained glass and the iron buttressing is unlike anything I've ever seen.

A bit hard to find, it is one of the most popular places for Catholics to visit here in Paris. Site of the reported apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to a young nun, Catherine Laboure, in the 1850's it draws thousands of pilgrims every year. It was here that the Miraculous Medal originated. You can see her incorrupt body ...

Beautiful church built by Louis XIII. It's in the heart of the marais district and right next to the metro station that shares its name. The clock face on the facade of the church is incredibly ornate and very striking.

Saint Eustache Church is one of many historic churches featured all over Paris. It was built between 1532 - 1632. The architecture looks similar to the Notre Dame Cathedral. Also, what distinguishes the church is it is located right by a huge hand and face statue, which is perfect for picture taking.

St. Pierre Church is located in the 14th arrondissement. This church is known for its tower type figure which sticks out prominently in the neighborhood. I would often pass by this church when I lived in Paris. While the architecture isn't as decadent as Notre Dame Cathedral, it still retains its importance in the 14th arrondisement.
