This small town Chartres is a great place to visit if you are staying in Paris. The town itself is not that big, and you can get there by a short train ride from Paris. The cathedral is one of the best Gothic architectures in the world. The stained glasses in the cathedral survived the wars. Beautiful art.

Aside from the chateau, Versailles is a cute and historic town in its own right. Fun shops, historic churches and lively parks are set a backdrop of pristine farms.

Wonderful place for people who admire Monet's paintings! The gardens are incredibly beautiful and the atmosphere there is much better than I expected. Try to go in a sunny day, it makes a great difference. I totally recommend this visit, and the small village of Giverny is also a great place to spend some hours.

There wasn't a lot to see in Reims but our goal was to have lunch (achieved) and to buy some champagne we couldn't buy in Canada (achieved) so the visit was a success.

Visiting Auvers-Sur-Oise is like getting into a Cezanne painting. It is a small town near CDG airport (about 40 minutes with a car). I had a connection through Paris, only 5 hours which led me visiting this really sweet town. The streets are filled with little stores and pastries. The main attractions are Château d'Auvers, Van Gogh' house, and Van ...

This a nice little town on the banks of the Seine. The main reason to come here is to go to the gardens at Giverny. We liked walking around the town because most of the tourists are at the gardens so you can get a slice of France unencumbered.

St. Denis was once a historic town, now it looks like a mishmash of architectural styles and has some less savory populations dwelling about. As a day trip from Paris it's a great idea, especially because the church at St Denis is quite a treat, but I'd recommend not staying here at night.
