The food is of course amazing! History is all around you. The Louvre could keep you art buffs busy for eons. And the city is the ...

This glitzy, golden palace is the imposing former home of Marie Antoinette and Louis XIV, and a common day trip from Paris.

Best known for Fontainebleau Chateau and business school INSEAD, Fonty is a great place for folks who like hiking in the woods and enjoying the french countryside. A short drive takes you to famous town for painters, Barbizon.

This small town Chartres is a great place to visit if you are staying in Paris. The town itself is not that big, and you can get there by a short train ride from Paris. The cathedral is one of the best Gothic architectures in the world. The stained glasses in the cathedral survived the wars. Beautiful art.

Rheims is easy to get to (from Paris), easy to navigate on foot once there, and easy to love (Champagne)! In addition to the champagne houses, there are historical sites and monuments of huge significance in French history. The wine shops are awesome to browse and the pedestrian friendly main street filled with outdoor cafes is great for relaxing, sobering ...

Great trip to get away from Paris. Just take the RER A straight into St Germain to see what an upscale suburb of Paris looks like. Beautiful mansions, cute cafes and, of course, the palace where Louis XIV was born! There are great gardens around here and a vineyard on the grounds of the chateau.

Visiting Auvers-Sur-Oise is like getting into a Cezanne painting. It is a small town near CDG airport (about 40 minutes with a car). I had a connection through Paris, only 5 hours which led me visiting this really sweet town. The streets are filled with little stores and pastries. The main attractions are Château d'Auvers, Van Gogh' house, and Van ...

This a nice little town on the banks of the Seine. The main reason to come here is to go to the gardens at Giverny. We liked walking around the town because most of the tourists are at the gardens so you can get a slice of France unencumbered.

St. Denis was once a historic town, now it looks like a mishmash of architectural styles and has some less savory populations dwelling about. As a day trip from Paris it's a great idea, especially because the church at St Denis is quite a treat, but I'd recommend not staying here at night.
