The Park Hyatt is where the likes of Lady Gaga and the Beach Boys stay when they’re in town. And for good reason. I was in awe of this place. The massive foyer is like a marble emporium and every square inch of the property is about as luxe as it could possibly be. Even the most standard guestrooms are large and have bathrooms with separate toilet room, enclosed shower, large tub and double (glass) sinks. As far as amenities go, there’s a well equipped gym that didn’t seem too crowded despite having members outside of just hotel guests, a large lap pool, and outdoor tennis court—where I was told professional players can sometimes be spotted. Another plus of the hotel is that it’s located right off Parliament square, where buildings have a sort of old world charm and character to spare.

Impeccable service, great stay. Loved the amenities in the room such as great bathtub with tv, all the little toiletry extras, spacious room and view. The bed was amazingly soft and comfortable. Wish they had wi-if included.

The Park Hyatt isn’t quite as central as the Grand Hyatt on Collins Street, but that might be its strength. Too often, a trip to Melbourne can focus on the Bourke Street mall, St Kilda and the Prahran Markets while ignoring the east side of the CBD where the Park Hyatt rests, skirting the supremely picnickable Fitzroy Gardens and a few blocks from the lavish Melbourne Museum. The hotel itself is awe-inspiring from the get go, the lobby like a marble colosseum and the most basic rooms are more spacious than most other CBD hotels and have giant bathrooms with glass sinks and separate toilets. The staff are unforgettable. If you’ve got the cash for a 5 star experience, the Park Hyatt is great.
