Ooh, love the new renovations and room upgrades! Park Shore Waikiki is a wonderful place to stay, close and convenient to Waikiki Beaches, Diamond Head, the Zoo, Aquarium, shops, restaurants, bars, and more. Rooms are clean and classic, staff are friendly and helpful, amenities are great, and the pool is fun. Your unforgettable vacation starts here at Park Shore Waikiki, where you'll enjoy in the beautiful scenery of the mountains, oceans, and scents of Hawaii right in your room.

The Park Shore has long been one of Waikiki’s best-kept secrets. It sits on the corner of Kalakaua Avenue and Kapahulu Avenue, right across from the beach and totally unobstructed by other buildings. That means that views from many ocean- and Diamond Head-facing rooms can be absolutely mind-blowing. Because some rooms also look out over the Honolulu Zoo, you might even hear gibbons, lions or elephants from your balcony. An older hotel with tiny rooms and basic décor, the prices (especially in the off-season) have been really low for years. However, the staff told us that renovations are coming in mid-2012, so I’m guessing that the rates will soon bump up to match the million-dollar views. The hotel has two dining options—a traditional Japanese restaurant and Lulu’s, a popular sports bar/café better for its ocean views than food. The open-air pool is small but relatively peaceful.

Facing the entrance to Kapiolani Park at the east end of Waikiki, this older hotel has a large, open-air lobby and a very warm staff. There’s a small pool with a deck and complimentary WiFi/internet use in a public area, but a room service charge. The room was very comfortable, although small and outdated. Making up for it was absolutely the most magnificent view of the park, Diamond Head and the vast Pacific, with a big, private and nicely furnished lanai to enjoy it from. Rates are quite a bit lower than most, especially for a view like that. In addition to a Starbucks, there is Yoshitsune, one of the oldest Japanese restaurants in Waikiki, with a full sushi bar. A bit pricey, but worth it, with excellent food and that classic, old-style atmosphere. Lulu’s, their very popular restaurant on the second floor corner, overlooks Waikiki Beach and Kapiolani Park.
