A bit mixed on how to review this one. Definitely a must-see on the first time tourist trail. If you had to see one tourist-oriented night market in Asia, this would probably be my pick. It is massive and carries everything -- every bootleg product found on planet earth. I struggle with the seedier side of the area. Amidst the bootleg DVDs and LV bags, you'll also hear plenty of offers of "girl with snake" or even "oh, don't like girl.. I suck d*ck." Bangkok has come a long way since I first visited 20 years ago and I look forward to the day when people are no longer sold next to the fake Rolexes.

Famous nightlife and red-light district of Bangkok. Dolled up ladyboys out and about, luring men to dance and drink. Lots of bars, even some with risque sex shows. Patpong is also a night market, where you can haggle and bargain for goods. It does seem sketchy if you are by yourself, altho Thai people are generally friendly, but do travel with caution.

One of the busiest night markets in all of Bangkok. It has just about every kind of store you can imagine. They bring the stalls up around 8pm and tear it down after 6am each and every day. If you head towards the music, you will see a lot of dancing girls in bikini's on stages, smiling at you to come in.

I would love this place if it weren't for the constant bombardment of people trying to get you to step into an alley for a "special massage" or "lady show." If you can keep focused and ignore the avid salesmen, it's a great cultural experience....but it can also be a bit disparaging. And while the contents of the night market are plentiful, it can be like finding a needle in the haystack if you want something other than knock off clothing or bags.

If you are in Bangkok patpong is a must visit place. It hosts both the nightmarket where you can buy all kind of tourist like souvenirs and lots and lots of cheap knock off clothing and apparel from all kind of designer brands.
Next to that it also hosts Bangkok's oldest red light district with lots of gogo's and beer bars. Don't go to the seedier places where they'll bring you upstairs and try to rip you off niet go to the big gogo's where you'll get a show and lots of attention from the girl's and where you'll pay a decent price.

A must visit for everyone travelling to Bangkok. The more humorous side of the seedy part of Bangkok, great for fake shopping and if you really want to see a strip club you can do it safely here. The area around the telephone bar is mostly gay bars and has a really nice part atmosphere

I really enjoyed my time at this market and I have no clue where the people trying to sell sex were. Thankfully, I was safe from all that and got to enjoy the hubbub of the stalls in peace. In fact, I didn't have people being too pushy about sales either. Maybe times have changed?
I got some really fun, unique gift items here and I got to visit a fish spa, which was hilarious, weird, and cool all at once. On thing I love about markets like this is that many of the stalls have similar (if not identical) products, so if someone tries to rip you off, you just keep moving until you get a deal.

Crowded nightmarket meets gogo clubs. Not even the right kind of sleazy, but the boring kind you can take your visiting relatives to, and yet there is still a chance to be ripped of by hidden charges and cover fees.
I suppose the people watching isn't too bad, and if you have aging relatives in tow it might be your thing, but overall, there is better thrills to be had for both shopping and nudity elsewhere.
