I've tried Peet's Coffee a couple of times at different locations around Portland. May interactions with the staff have been very pleasant and I really like their coffee.

I challenge you to spend less than an hour in this store. Can't be done. And trust me, I've been there for much longer than that. My favorite thing about Powell's is their used book collection, and the fact that they're not separated into a different section.Popular withLocalTrendstersFamilies

I've been to a lot of second hand clothing stores and this was one of the nicest I've ever seen. It was simple but clean. The clothes in stock were on the whole quite high quality, varied and a good selection.Popular withTrendstersBudgetLocal

Located next to another clothing exchange shop called Crossroads Trading Company. Both stores are very nice, two of the best second hand shops I've ever seen. The Red Light was very impressive with high ceilings and elaborate, funky decorations. The clothing was extremely well organized with sections for items as specific as a section for flannel shits which makes it ...Popular withBudgetTrendstersLocal

Local 35 has a friendly and stylish vibe. It was a pleasure to walk around and admire not only the men's clothing, but the accessories, the presentation, the originality, and the selection. Store staff was also friendly and welcoming. I'm not sure what style choices would suit me best, but I think Gayle would enjoy doing some major damage here ...

Great new addition to the Hawthorne area of Portland, Oregon. It's a somewhat smaller restaurant and bar but the service was great and the food delicious. I sampled the veggie sandwich on spelt bread with sweet potato fries paired with a crisp hard cider. Perfect combination both filling and flavorful! This little place is definitely worth checking out.Popular withTrendstersWellnessBudget

This Fred Meyers is minty fresh and certainly not the one I usually walk into when I'm visiting the Pacific Northwest. It's also a bit of surprise to even find this store after walking down the hip side of Hawthorne. The ground floor is all groceries is a handsome and well stocked place, with lots of extras. The upper floor ...

Hands down the best retro shop I have ever seen! The merchandise is high quality. The shop is well designed and clothes nicely displayed. At first glance it looked amazing, I'll have to go back again and dig through to see what good finds might be hidden in there.Popular withTrendstersBudgetLocal

Interesting shop with an incredibly unique collection. Hand crafted artwork and jewelry from Central and South America, primarily Mexico and Brazil. What really stood out to me were the skeleton figures from Mexico. They also had some fascinating sensual and erotic statues from Mexico City. Quality pieces and a great variety of options, something for everyone that would add to ...Popular withTrendstersBudgetLocal

Presents of Mind's stated goal is to enhance peoples lives by offering high quality, fun, affordable goods for diverse and progressive social expression while providing quality service. And after multiple trips to Portland, the only words that might be missing from this description are sustainable and green. My point is that I hear all these words so often up here ...

This is a very nice neighbourhood toy store and apparently with a generous community heart. That observation is based on the bulletin board in the back with all the donation thank you letters. My son and I wandered in a few days ago. It's an attractive and relatively small store, that jammed with all sorts of well-made and intelligent toys ...

I wandered into Cassidy Jewelry after Lunch. This portion of Hawthorne Street has changed since I was here last year, as old stores have closed up, and new ones (including chains) have appeared in their place. The neighbourhood still has a nice close to Reed College vibe and its fun to wander around and consider the dining and shopping possibilities. ...

My first impression of Hawthorne Avenue was that with notable exceptions, a better name this section of town would be the Tschotchke Trail. There's Greg's, Sorel's, Presents of Mind, and other unique "stuff" places that I'm sure I somehow missed. I had the most fun at Dollar (Loonie?) Scholar. It's an interesting combination of a variety store, a rummage sale, ...

This fine establishment on Hawthorne is on the Vintage side of the gift shop space-time continuum on Hawthorne. The only thing that threw me when I wandered in was hearing "Sweet and Innocent" by Donny Osmond as background music. The shop is nicely organized and the 2 guys running the store were friendly and helpful. My son really enjoyed the ...

Southeast Portland's sprawling Laurelhurst Park is an excellent place to picnic, take your dog, play frisbee or just hang out. There's an enormous duck pond that's popular with families (come equipped with a loaf of bread), large, open designated off-leash dog run areas, and plenty of picnic tables. In the summer, it's not unusual to see groups of people practicing ...Popular withOutdoorFamiliesLocal

Perhaps the diviest - and also my favorite - of Portland's theater pubs, the Laurelhurst Theatre is the ideal place to grab a slice and a pint and watch a second run of, well, just about anything. Unlike the Bagdad, that only shows one or two movies at a time, the Laurelhurst operates like a real theater: several screens, no ...Popular withBudgetTrendstersStudents
