Visiting Hotel Pension-Funk, built in 1895 and the former home of silent film star Asta Nielson, feels like stepping back in time. Unlike the many towering chain hotels in nearby Kurfurstendamm, every room has a homey, personalized feel, with antique Victorian mirrors and lamps, and the type of wallpaper that does not exist in the corporate world. The friendly owner is also a local history buff, and gladly guides his guests through the long corridors, many displaying history photographs of the prominent people, from Kaisers to film stars, who have called the building home. It’s also situated on Fasanenstrasse, home to old theaters, cabarets and the famous ‘Literaturhaus’. It’s one of the few parts of Berlin that still retains a 1920s feel.Recommended for:

Walking up the marble staircase to reach the Pension is like walking into the past. Originally the home of silent film star Asta Nielsen, Pension Funk is located on one of the most historic streets in Berlin, and full of rich history. The rooms are comfortable, and designed with 1920s Berlin in mind, including gorgeous antique furniture and rotary phones. Stay here to take a trip into Weimar Germany, and socialize with the friendly owner and staff.Recommended for:

This turn of the century house, once owned by a silent film star is done out in the style of the age it was built with ornate rugs and antique furniture.
A great example of pre-war style in Berlin the hotel is also in a great location for the sites being very near Tiergarten and the museums.
This is a great place to sample the elegance of this era, plus rumour has it Charlie Chaplin once stayed here.Recommended for:
