Although tours of the building are possible, they require reservations well in advance. It's still a very impressive building, even just from the outside!

The pentagon is a massive and imposing structure, and one of the more iconic buildings in the DC area. You can tour the pentagon for free, but you need to make reservations far in advance (best if you do it more than month ahead of visiting). It is a pretty cool experience, and I would recommend it, especially if you've already checked out some of DC's other main attractions

Description

Headquarters to the United States military, The Pentagon in Alexandria, Virginia is one of the most recognizable structures in the American government. Built in a unique five-sided pentagon structure with five separate “rings” or levels The Pentagon is the nerve center of the nation’s military and any ongoing military efforts. Housing over 23,000 employees both civilian and military, it is one of the largest employers in the region. The Pentagon has over 6.5 million square feet of floor space, technically making it the world’s largest office building, although it is far more than that. With tours available to the general public it is a must-see for anyone visiting the Washington D.C. area.
