Not a huge fan of the hotel rooms at this joint, far from downtown Reno. But the casino is a whole other story: great odds for gamblers, a crazy tropical tiki design theme, and garish rainbow-colored lights everywhere you look. It's easily 10x or 20x the size of the retro Peppermill casino coffee shop and divey lounge on the Las Vegas Strip.Recommended for:

Caveat: I came here for work. The Peppermill is having an identity crisis. It looks like they grafted half of the Palazzo in Vegas onto the exterior, and all the rooms are done up in white and gold plaster with tacky paintings of cupids and naked girls in the greco-roman style. But the casino floor and restaurants like the buffet still scream 80s. Ventilation is nonexistent, and after walking through the casino to check in, my hair reeked like I'd smoked a pack of reds. Finally, the room walls are paper thin and my colleague called security twice in the middle of the night because she couldn't sleep due to the noise. I'd rather stay at the Hampton Inn.

Every time I think about my last visit there, I think of the Peppermill Restaurant. Hahahahaha! And then when I think of the casino, I think of it as a large restaurant with other activities like gambling and hotel rooms and the like. Dont forget that they serve large breakfasts. Speaking of which, of course they have the same exact looking coffee shop also. Of course that's where the comparison ends since the hotel rooms and pools are nicer since they have them versus the one that is down the street from home. Too bad the one down the street closed... And lets face it, I basically go back here time and time again simply to relive those moments. Hmmmm breakfast with the family, but this time minus the family.

Peppermill is one of the nicer resort casinos in Reno. The place has a whole kitschy Tuscany theme going on, but the rooms are a good size and the pool area is really nice. When it's hot out, the pool is the place to be. Great lounge beds and multiple pools, including one that has a massive waterfall that goes into it. The restaurants inside close super early though. Dealers are generally really fun and friendly.
