Perla's is simply one of the very best seafood restaurants in Austin. More variety, creatively and scrumptously prepared than anywhere else I have found in town. Last time I ate there, I had a simple trout, but it was from heaven: light as a feather, a melt-on-and-into-your-tastebuds delicacy, but with a truckload of flavor. I wanted to just close my eyes and drift, it was so freaking good. It ain't cheap, but it is SO worth it to eat there.

Their cocktails are super refreshing, especially their daily frozen delight. Come here to cool down with a drink on their patio or enjoy some seafood, brunch or daily changing dinner menu.

Perla's has a great outdoor patio and is one of the few restaurants on S. Congress that takes reservations. The wait can be long if you don't have one, particularly when the weather is nice. Best bet is to make one a couple of days in advance.

I finally made it over to Perla's and I dont know what took me so long. Located on the extremely popular South Congress, this beautiful restaurant with plenty of indoor and outdoor space attracts a well to do crowd of individuals that love oysters. They have about a dozen varieties and do a great job describing all of the nuanced differences. The atmosphere is really lively and upbeat. I recommend waiting for a Patio table closet to the street so that you can people watch.

A solid South Congress oyster bar & seafood restaurant with good wine list. Love the big Texas oaks in the front that shade the outdoor seating area, and especially love the clear-tented outdoor seating for winter months. Great for a special dinner or a Sunday afternoon glass of wine and bite between meals-- the crabcake sandwich is a perfect treat (get the fries and the cole slaw).
