I think a single day visit in Perth is a must if you are planning a trip to Australia. Places like Rottnest island, Fremantle Market, Western Australia Aquarium with botanic gardens are fabulous places in their own which can not be compared with any other.

Perth is often overlooked on the Australia trip planning radar, but it is worth the trek across the country. Well, flight. Perth is one of the most isolated big cities in the world - it is one of the most isolated big cities in the world, but the people and the scenery make up for any loneliness one might feel there. Beaches, gardens, beer, and adventures North and South - Perth and Western Australia are a don't miss Down Under.

I like this laid back town as it feels that time moves slower than the rest of the world. It is an ideal destination for family holiday as there many activities and things to see. Unfortunately, the city sleeps quite early - most shops close at 6-7 pm, with the exception of a certain day in a week that it close slightly later.

Kings Park,Cottesloe or City Beaches.,or Perth Zoo are all nice places to visit. If you go up to Yanchep National Park in the afternoon and stay till dusk, kangaroos come out of the bush on to the lawn to feed which is pretty cool to watch. the end of Falls road at night gives a great view of Perth and you might get the bonus of Kangaroos bounding down the road as we did.. the small water fall there is pretty as well. Rotnest island is great in summer for at least a day trip

Aussies love Perth because .... We can see the sunset on the beach - most of us have only seen the sunrise.
One thing you MUST DO in Perth is go to the Little Creatures Brewery. A great meal and fantastic beer/cider. Very WA!

Perth, Western Australia is an amazing place to visit or to live. There are so many things to do there. Many beaches and interesting places to visit. You can go to the local parks and pet kangaroos, take a short ferry ride to Rottnest Island or take a drive down south to beautiful Margaret River. Perth city has great night-life with many bars and restaurants. Perth is a great city for families or single people. I would recommend Perth to anyone who wants to visit Australia.

More like a big country town, than a cosmopolitan city, but it's growing due to the mining boom! plenty of shops, and unlike other cities I have been to, there are still unique one of boutiques, and special interest shops.

I love western Australia and Perth is a rocking city. Instead of taking the typical route visiting the eastern coast of Australia, the western coast is much more interesting and less traveled (esp in you come through the desert though the Gun Barrel highway). If you are already in Perth, check out wine country to the south of the city (Margaret River) and make sure to find out where you can swim with the Whale Sharks :)

Description

Perth, the capital of Western Australia, is an incredibly laid-back city of 1.5 million people which has no need to interact much with the rest of the continent. And why would it? Surfing, barbecues, and swimming are all popular after work activities, as the "Fremantle Doctor" wind cools down the hot mid day air. Of course, the fact that Perth is almost 4000 km from Sydney contributes to its slightly isolated feeling. The 1980s brought rapid growth to Perth, which has a Central Business District with pedestrian only shopping and galleries along with restaurants and clubs in Northbridge. The Fremantle market is another popular stop in this city of 1.5 million.
