There are certainly secluded sections of Abergris Caye, especially if you venture as far north as you can go, but if you have the opportunity, escape to Caye Caulker for a few days. It's much less developed and, in my opinion, a lot more relaxing than much-more-commercialized San Pedro and surrounds. Also make sure to spend a day snorkeling or diving between the two cayes - there's endless stunning wildlife below the surface.
