Hotel Palomar Philadelphia - a Kimpton Hotel

Hotel Palomar Philadelphia - a Kimpton Hotel

    Class:
    8 reviews
Excellent! - 91% of guests recommend

Funky, cool and chic, I'm really digging the Kimpton Hotels I've been to thus far - San Francisco, Baltimore and now here in Philadelphia. The Hotel Palomar converts a historic downtown Philly space into a perpetual Austin Powers cocktail party. Speaking of which, I absolutely love their daily afternoon wine receptions! Guestrooms are smart and comfortable. Great centralized location to ...

It’s all about the luxury and the views. The hotel is right on the waterfront and perfectly situated for some beautiful sunrises, strolls, jogs, or lazy afternoon gazing on the terrace. Everything is up-to-date and top-of-the-line, fitness center, pool, flat screens, video check-out (that was a new one for me!). If anything it’s a little too modern--It felt odd visiting ...

Great place to stay. In walking distance to tons of great restaurants and the train station is connected to the hotel. Also right across the street is Reading Terminal Market that has almost every type of cuisine in there. From fresh oysters to Cajun to Indian. Just to walk through and sample food is fun.

Looks are deceiving. A spacious lobby, centrally located with some staff who are very helpful. But then: Wi-Fi that is excruciatingly slow - when it is working; a shower that requires a written explanation on the wall in order to work it (and then confuses "right" and "left"); bathroom emitting a stuck foghorn noise for 10 -15 minutes during early ...

This was an older (decor wise) Four Seasons (I was there in 2003) and a cheaper one (especially on the weekends), but with all of the service you'd expect. One of my best ever value-for-money stays.

The Inn at Penn is a hotel in the middle of the University of Pennsylvania, mostly there for alumni and students' families I think. It's elegantly decorated in dark woods and carpets and walls. The rooms are comfortable. I choose the Inn based primarily for its location since I was working nearby.

This hotel is very close to Independence Hall. The customer service is why I love this place and it is great for kids. Hit 0 on their phone and they deliver cookies and milk to kids at bed time. It isn't super expensive but gives you a luxurious feeling.

Old Bay popcorn! Yes, I am from Baltimore and proud of it. I couldn't believe they had this as a snack in the chic downstair lounge. Loved this hotel, simply beautiful and luxurious. The location was perfect for me, in the heart of the downtown near everything. Felt very pampered here.

This hotel has a great design to it. I really dug the contemporary feeling. It stood out from your average hotel. The staff seemed friendly, and I was pleased to learn parking was included with our stay. I can't give it a full 5 stars because the finishes seemed slapped together or possibly just worn out (cracked tiles/grout) and while ...

This boutique hotel is my favorite place to stay when in Philadelphia on business or pleasure. The lobby screams sexy when you enter. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are ultra modern with flat screen tvs and low, comfortable beds. And the rooms all come with bathrobes! The steak frites is my favorite thing in the restaurant.

Philadelphia and Surrounds Hotel Insider
The City of Brotherly Love is chock-full of history, arts, and culture, making it one of the most favorite destinations on the East Coast of the U.S. From the homegrown cuisine of cheesesteaks to soft pretzels, park sculptures to historic landmarks, Philly is emblematic of Pennsylvania. As such, it enjoys a healthy stream of visitors each year, eager to explore the eclectic arts scene and the sights of American foundations. Thanks to a recent boom in hotel availability, and the recent VISIT PHILADELPHIA campaign, nearly 40 million visitors have flooded the city since 2013. As such, Philly is equipped with more than a million hotel rooms!

Philadelphia Hotels
Whether you’re a business traveler, family of four, trendster, or budget-extraordinaire, you’ll find the lodging you need in one of the several hundred hotels in Philadelphia. Popular brand like the Hyatt Regency, Marriott, Doubletree, and Ritz-Carlton offer the same world-class services you’d expect from their names, and are often situated conveniently near Philly’s most popular areas, including Franklin Square, the Liberty Bell, and Independence Hall. The Sofitel on 7th Street is decked out in true luxury, with exquisite beds and a roaring fireplace in the lounge. If you’re looking to stay for awhile, the AKA Rittenhouse Square offers long-term lodging big enough for families.

Boutique options are aplenty: the Omni Hotel near Independence Park is a small building with big amenities, offering towncar service and audio visual equipment rentals. The Aloft Hotel near Philadelphia Airport is not only aesthetically pleasing; it offers a hipster atmosphere complete with 24/7 house music and a grab-and-go counter with organic snacks. Likewise, the popular and pet-friendly Hotel Monaco is located right in the heart of the historic center, complete with a nightly wine hour.

Of course, you don’t have to break the bank to stay in Philly. There are plenty of independently-owned budget options that won’t compromise your standards for service: The Reserve Bed & Breakfast is housed inside two beautifully preserved 1800s townhouses, complete with homemade cookies upon arrival and a Steinway piano in the parlor. Likewise, The Independent offers Hershey’s kisses on the pillows, eclectic art pieces on display, and a nearby craft beer shop -- all of which make up for its rather small accommodations.

Attractions & Environs
There are hundreds of things to do in Philadelphia, most of which center around the arts and history. Check out the Philadelphia Museum of Art (and the Rocky Statue and steps), Philadelphia Zoo, or the world-famous University of Pennsylvania, all of which are serviced by plenty of local cuisine options and boutique shopping in the area. Set up camp at the Corner Bed & Breakfast nearby, a carefully restored Victorian mansion with a fresh, modern decor and warm hospitality.

For a taste of local culture, don’t miss Love Park, where lovers cuddle and singles mingle under the trees and on benches. Not far away is Rittenhouse Square, a similar experience with sculptures and bookshops dating back to the days of William Penn, as well as the immensely popular Please Touch Museum, where nothing is off limits to children. Le Meridien Philadelphia is a great place to hang your hat near these attractions, offering a comfortable family-friendly stay with a European flair.

Of course, for the historically-minded, you won’t be disappointed. Stop in at the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, City Hall, and South Street to get a feel for traditional Philly living, all of which are within walking distance to dozens of hotels. For a retreat from the city center, head out to the nature and hiking trails of Valley Green, and stay at Silverstone Bed & Breakfast, housed in a Gothic Victorian mansion.
