    Reading Terminal Market

Love this place. They have food for anyone. A great place to go if your not sure what you want to eat. You can walk around and sample different cuisines. The fresh oysters are amazing and a great price. Also at the Cajun place the gumbo is excellent. My husband and I go and get a smorgasbord of different things. ...

    Pat's King of Steaks

    34 reviews

I don't dare get involved in Philly cheese-steak "best of" wars, but this place is great, and it is the oldest in town, which definitely should count for something. Plenty of tourists come here, and that's why the terse instructions for ordering are posted, but at least the couple of times I've been there, I've seen cops and other normal ...

    Jim's Steaks

    23 reviews

I come back here everytime I come to Philly. Great steaks and a fun and friendly staff. The surrounding South Street area is also fun, and make sure to keep your arms off the glass.

    Geno's Steaks

    27 reviews

Cheese Steak challenge. Who's going to win? Geno or Pat? My coworker & I each bought a sandwich from each place. Armed with 1/2 a sandwich from the iconic cheese steak shop, it was time to decide the winner The cheese steak at Geno's was very good. It had a more tender steak & bigger sliced meat. I ordered it ...

    City Tavern

    6 reviews

Honest-to-goodness food and a show. You get to explore the history behind the original tavern (talk to anyone and everyone that works there about the history of the place), while eating authentic food that people like Washington, Hamilton, Jefferson, Adams, and Franklin ate.

    The Franklin Fountain

An old-school ice cream parlor located in the Old City section of the city. Not only are old-school ice cream cones and sundaes served, there’s also some candy that will have some parents and grandparents say, “I remember those!” Sure your child will probably end up with an incredible sugar high, but in the end it’s totally worth it.

    Porcini

    4 reviews

Easily one of the best Italian places in the city. Location is very small but the atmosphere makes you feel right at home despite being in such a tiny space. Staff is very friendly and treats you like family. The restaurant is BYOB, but we were kindly comped a bottle when we went. The food is fantastic. I had an ...

    White Dog Cafe

    8 reviews

Founded by social activist Judy Wicks, the White Dog Cafe is a restaurant with a mission. All food is organic and sourced from local farms within 50 miles of the restaurant. The food is delicious - so much so that people often take a cook book with them when they leave. Highly recommended.

Tony Luke's Old Philly Style Sandwiches

    11 reviews

Although not as well known as some other cheesesteak shops (hey, Pat's, I'm talkin' boutcha), this one just tastes better, I've found, as along as you get the roast pork with sharp provolone and broccoli rabe instead of more traditional chopped steak. It's not too far from the airport either, so make this your first and/or last meal in Philly.

Distrito is so much fun! The food is terrific. Riffs on Mexican street food. Prix fixe lunch is one of the best deals around. Creative. Kids will love it.

    Jones

A fancy diner to have casual weekday dinner or lunch with your folks. Which is exactly what I was looking for. We had the 'veggie Shepard pie' (Wednesday's special) the 'Thanks giving happiness' and the meat loaf dish. None were extraordinary delicious nor special, just a lil above average. The service was great and they are super friendly but also ...

    Monk's Cafe

Awesome place for Belgian beer. On a lovely side street in Center City. Decent food - moules frites and the steak salad is scrumptuous. It fills up quickly so get there early if you want a seat.

    Alma De Cuba

    7 reviews

One of my favorite restaurants in Philly! Alma de Cuba is a modern spin on traditional latin dishes from Cuba, Peru and other countries latin america. The atmosphere is lively and fun, the prices are high, and the food is amazing. The ceviches are good, as was a roasted pork dish I tried. Great cocktails as well.

    Green Eggs Cafe

Loved this brunch. The portions are huge so basically you're paying $10 for two meals. The featured dish here are the Red Velvet pancakes. If it's too large/rich for you just order the kid sized portion. Come early or prepare to wait. It gets busy starting at 10am on weekends.

    Zahav

    6 reviews

Zahav is a great place to get fantastic food at a good price and in a relaxed atmosphere. Partly this is because with the small shared plates menu, you can choose between a light tasting or a more expensive full meal. We loved the halloumi and the Yemeni beef stew. Delicate, hearty, and delicious! If you want to get in ...
