Monks is a lively, intimate place near Rittenhouse Square with amazing mussels and fries - they serve a bunch of different styles, I would recommend going for the Brussels style. My favorite. Great beer selection as well.

In the battle of Geno's verses Pat's my personal preference has always been for Pat's. Fortunately Pat's and Geno's are right across the street from each other so it's easy enough to just try both for yourself and see which you prefer. Either way, you'll be getting a real taste of Philly.

Order by saying, "can I get a whiz-wit" otherwise you sound like a tourist, which you probably are, but it's fun trying to conceal it. A local on the plane ride over gave me this tip, it def makes you feel like you're a local as well when you know this tiny tidbit. The cheesesteaks here are awesome! Get it ...

Really good classic American bar food. The soft pretzels are to die for, and they've got an amazing selection of beers, including a lot of great, local breweries.

My favorite bar/pub/tavern in America. Plenty of good quality draft selection and bottle options. Try the Swedish meatballs for an appetizer. You'll be back.

One of the coolest dive bars in Philly. The house special is a shot of Jack Daniels and a Pabst Blue Ribbon. You can also "super size" any cocktail and get it served to you in a pint glass!

    Rouge

    205 S 18th St, Philadelphia, PA 19103
    3.5
    6 reviews

With street side seating overlooking Rittenhouse square, Rouge offers one of the best seats in all of Philly. People flock here when the weather is nice to sip wine and hang out. The prices are a little steep, but the wine selection is good and the french-style food is tasty if not super memorable.

    Alma De Cuba

1623 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19103
    4.5
    7 reviews

One of my favorite restaurants in Philly! Alma de Cuba is a modern spin on traditional latin dishes from Cuba, Peru and other countries latin america. The atmosphere is lively and fun, the prices are high, and the food is amazing. The ceviches are good, as was a roasted pork dish I tried. Great cocktails as well.

Love this restaurant. The food is great and the service is absolutely wonderful. When we asked if we could get one of their specialty drinks as a pitcher, the manager was so nice and made an exception for us. Also the cauliflower dish they make is so delicious. They even have a vegetarian menu option if you ask for it ...

    4.5

JB's is probably my favorite venue for an event! The concerts are intimate, the acoustics are great, the sound quality is insane, and there's always just enough room for a bit of dancing. I recently volunteered at an event here, and it just added to the list of reasons why everyone should support and visit this wonderful establishment! Before said ...

My First dinner in Philadelphia was awesome. I was watching Unique Eats on the Food channel and they did a feature on Amis. I was going to Philadelphia in two weeks so I bookmarked it. Zahav

The closes restaurant to my hotel (not already in the hotel) is Zahav. It also happens to be one of the highest rated. How lucky can I be. Within walking distance and oh so delicious. The ambiance is perfect for dinner with your friends. Music was playing, but not blaring. Lighting was just right, not dim at all. Service was ...

    Jim's Steaks

400 South St, Philadelphia, PA 19147
    4
    21 reviews

Pat's and Geno's are more highly publicized in part due to their rivalry and location across the street from each other. But if you ask me, for the best cheese steak in Philly you have to go to Jim's. I don't think I've ever seen Jim's without a line out the door. I order a "whiz with", that is with ...

Honest-to-goodness food and a show. You get to explore the history behind the original tavern (talk to anyone and everyone that works there about the history of the place), while eating authentic food that people like Washington, Hamilton, Jefferson, Adams, and Franklin ate.

OK, I admit being a bit of a coffee snob. But La Colombe is one of my favorite coffee shops anywhere in the world. Amazing cappuccinos, cool atmosphere with high ceilings and red walls. I make a point of coming here every time I am in Philly and am always happy when I do. They also have good pastries, croissants ...
