    Pat's King of Steaks

    1237 E Passyunk Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19147
    4
    34 reviews

Listen: I'm fortunate enough to live a very short walk away from Pat's. My next door neighbor is one of its happy/grumpy employees, and a cheesesteak wiz whit was the main sustenance of my wedding day! I really didn't get to eat much during the reception and upon heading home to get changed, I wanted nothing more in the world ...

    Reading Terminal Market

    N 12th St & Arch St, Philadelphia, PA 19107
    4.5
    48 reviews

Best place to go for a quick bite when you don't know what you want. Reading Terminal offers such a wide variety of food - to eat there and take with you - and anything else you might want. The book stand is full of rare, old finds. You'll be surprised by what you come across.

    Triumph Brewing Company - Philadelphia

117 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19106
    4.5
    5 reviews

Really good classic American bar food. The soft pretzels are to die for, and they've got an amazing selection of beers, including a lot of great, local breweries.

    Jim's Steaks

400 South St, Philadelphia, PA 19147
    4
    21 reviews

If you want to try a REAL cheesesteak, definitely try Jim's. Not as good as it used to be, but definitely fun for a quick bite before a concert or bar hopping adventures.

    Geno's Steaks

    1219 S 9th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147
    4
    26 reviews

Geno's or Pat's? That is the age-old question for visitors (and residents) to the City of Brotherly Love. When I visited the first time, I tried both cheesesteaks - and came to the conclusion that while Pat's was more tasty, Geno's was far friendlier in service. However, that was 6 years ago. On my last outing, in 2008, I preferred ...

    La Colombe Torrefaction

130 South 19th Street, Philadelphia, PA
    4
    6 reviews

OK, I admit being a bit of a coffee snob. But La Colombe is one of my favorite coffee shops anywhere in the world. Amazing cappuccinos, cool atmosphere with high ceilings and red walls. I make a point of coming here every time I am in Philly and am always happy when I do. They also have good pastries, croissants ...

Pho Xe Lua Viet Thai Restaurant

907 Race St, Philadelphia, PA 19107
    4.5
    2 reviews

This is my go-to place for pho, a Vietnamese noodle in beef broth dish. Rich, intense broth, fresh basil, and generous portions of thinly sliced rare beef (which cooks itself while it is steeped in the steaming broth) make this restaurant's pho a very authentic and flavorful experience. And at $6, this may be the best deal in Philly. Be ...

    Bob & Barbara's Lounge

1509 South St, Philadelphia, PA 19146
    5
    3 reviews

One of the coolest dive bars in Philly. The house special is a shot of Jack Daniels and a Pabst Blue Ribbon. You can also "super size" any cocktail and get it served to you in a pint glass!

    Distrito

    3945 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA
    4.5

A little disappointed after hearing great reviews. Brunch is mediocre with a few standouts, but great drinks. I'm sure dinner is delicious, too. Try the chocolate spice cake! Super good! Also very cool interior.

Tony Luke's Old Philly Style Sandwiches

    39 E. Oregon Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19148
    4.5
    11 reviews

Although not as well known as some other cheesesteak shops (hey, Pat's, I'm talkin' boutcha), this one just tastes better, I've found, as along as you get the roast pork with sharp provolone and broccoli rabe instead of more traditional chopped steak. It's not too far from the airport either, so make this your first and/or last meal in Philly.

    Bobby's Burger Palace

3925 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104
    4.5
    2 reviews

Good burgers. Bobby's is a step up from a fast food place. Burgers are big and you can choose from a variety of styles. Seating is largely at large shared tables - not a place to bring a date - but its good for a quick lunch.

    Pod

3636 Sansom St, Philadelphia, PA 19104
    3.5
    8 reviews

When this first opened in Philadelphia all of the Wharton students were thrilled. 10 years later it appears a bit dated, though still a cool concept. A space age interior and pan Asian cuisine. The cocktails are good. It's a mixture of Penn Grad students and trendy academics (whatever that is).

    The Dandelion

Easily the best British-like food and atmosphere you'll encounter outside of England. Pretty expensive, but the food is totally worth it.

Fun restaurant with great food and an equally impressive menu! When I went we did family style dishes, which was a great way to try a bit of everything (it was pretty hard to decide as a lot of dishes piqued my interest).

Right across from Rittenhouse square sits this cute brasserie. From the chairs and the seating arrangement to the cuisine, It is very much like a French bistro except for more pleasant servers. The food was excellent - I had a salade lyonnaise and the other members of my lunch party highly recommended the steak tartare and salade ni├žoise. It was ...

As noted, this is an awesome place to drink a wide variety of eclectic beer. However, the food is also phenomenal. Get the mussels or one of the burgers. You can't go wrong with anything here.

    Alma De Cuba

1623 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19103
    4.5
    7 reviews

One of my favorite restaurants in Philly! Alma de Cuba is a modern spin on traditional latin dishes from Cuba, Peru and other countries latin america. The atmosphere is lively and fun, the prices are high, and the food is amazing. The ceviches are good, as was a roasted pork dish I tried. Great cocktails as well.
