Yum my favorite BBQ place in Southern California. But I guess it's everyone favorite bbq spot becuase there is always a wait during prime time! So don't come here extremely hungry. Favorites: Full Beef Rib Dinner (5 Bones) or the Baby Back Rib Dinner (10 to 12 Bones). There side dishes are just okay here....

I gotta say it's the best barbecue in San Diego. The long line is worth the wait but if you're not up for it, call ahead and get it to go. I suggest the beef rib dinner but you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu

Beef ribs, pulled pork, onion rings galore.. drooling yet? You can have authentic Barbecue any day with 3 San Diego locations to pick from. Family owned, this hot spot has been placed in the Top Ten Restaurants in San Diego on TripAdvisor.com and voted Best Barbecue 2012 by San Diego Magazine.

Oh Phil's, you will always remain a road block in my journey to become a vegetarian. The line does not lie, and there is always, yes I repeat always a line here. News of the BBQ sauce makes it up to LA foodies who swear no one compares, and whether you slather it on chicken breasts or baby back ribs, you will be in BBQ heaven.

When it comes to legit BBQ in San Diego, options are few. Phil's notoriously long line is for good reason. The food is high quality and the prices are modest. I won't get into too much detail because there are a ton of other reviews for that, but I'll give this helpful tip: If you are celebrating your birthday with a meal at Phil's, register in advance and you and four other people (I think) can skip the line!

Okaaaay I'll add along more praise to this place.
LOVE THE BEEFY RIBS!
That's all we'll get. My bf and I share the Full Beefy Rib Dinner Combo with a side of Corn ($20) and we're good to go. [Sprinkle that cajun seasoning on the corn, yummmm!]
Since we're not from the area, we consider the line waiting part of the experience still. (What nubs!)
But next time! NEXT time, we'll order takeout and eat it somewhere else....or tailgate.
++ points for their sanitary door clip on for your forearm along with the washing sink outside of the restrooms!Recommended for:Foodies

Phil's BBQ is a must if you're visiting San Diego. I always go here every time I'm in SD. Although there's always a long line here, it's definitely worth the wait! You can't get ribs this big and delicious anywhere else. I like both the baby back ribs and the beefy ribs a lot. You get to pick your own sides. I usually get fries and macaroni salad. Don't forget to order the huge onion rings! If you don't want ribs, then you should order either their barbecue pork sandwich. So delicious. All the workers here are really nice too. The service is pretty fast after you order your food. They give you a beeper to bring to your table. This place is really good for big groups and you'll definitely have a good time here!
