Phuket Town is a jewel and only 15 minutes from Coconut Island by 3 minute boat and 12 minute taxi ride.
See Old Chinatown with cafes, cute international restaurants, souvenir shops, clothing stores, Thai handmade products.
Evenings offer fine international restaurants and pubs and discos that offer a range from rock and roll to beautiful acoustic live music.

I did not have many expectations about this city, maybe this is why i enjoyed so much. Few tourists, a calm small city, with great sino-portuguese architecture everywhere. Some nice bars and caffes.

Phuket è stata la parte peggiore del nostro viaggio, dove siamo finiti per non aver prenotato in tempo in altri posti.. troppo commerciale, da evitare..

You have to go to the Market and see all the stalls. If you find anything you like, make you bargain. Whatever price they say, make sure you pay 20-25% of that, less even better. Also there's a lot of food to offer, I had some fried banana and boy was it good and it was cheap. I believe I paid $0.75CDN. Seafood is also excellent tasting, you could also bargain for that. The shrimps we had we're huge. So make sure you try that.

It is one of the better beaches in Phuket island. It is less crowded than the Patong beach. It can be an alternative choice to island hopping

I found this place overrun with tourist traps, but the speedboat trip I took to the nearby islands exposed me to some of the best beaches I've ever seen. Also, go to the night market for 40 cent bbq sticks and other fun Thai treats. I

This is my favourite beach in Phuket. Clean and awesome waves. It can sometimes just get a bit too touristy and crowded.

Pretty cool little beach in Phuket. We stopped here because I noticed a surfboard rental shack so I wanted to check it out. The rental was pretty cheap and they had a range of longboards/shortboards and boogy boards.

There is also a person walking around the beach that can get you drinks from the nearby drink shack. We ordered coconuts and watermelon juice that were really thirst quenching.

There were a lot of lounge chairs scattered throughout the beach, but you had to pay to use them. Not expensive though.

This was the one of the top asia's best resort places and still is in my opinion. From Phuket you also need to visit near by Phi Phi islands where I think you'll see the world's best beaches and resorts.

I spent a month taking a class in Phuket Town, and while there isn't too much to do in the town (it is NOT by the beach) it is a reasonably priced area with a lot of cheap food and decent night life. All the beaches are a 200B ride away and you can do anything from rent motorbikes to the cinema to the hospital in Phuket Town. However, when you mentally picture Phuket, you are NOT picturing Phuket Town!

Phuket is a nice serene change of pace from Bangkok. The beauty of the coast is 2nd to none.

We were there a month before the tsunami and haven't been back since. I'm not sure what is and what isn't there, but it still a place to see and experience.

I loved it.

I'd go back to Phuket in a heart beat. The people are some of the friendliest I've met, and the island in itself is gorgeous. With beautiful beaches, an active night life, and delicious seafood, Phuket is a great destination for that adventure-like opportunity in Asia.

Once in Phuket, you can also take tours out to see Khao Tapu, which today is known as "James Bond Island" - this location is where they filmed scenes for the Bond movie "The Man with the Golden Gun." - Definitely not to be missed when you're in Phuket!

Surely worth the flight out from Bangkok if you're planning a trip to Thailand!

Phuket is the epitome of Thai nightlife a go-go. Bar girls, lady boys and massage parlors alike all competing for your almighty Baht all night. Never will I forget seeing an Indian family (turbans and grandma and all) walking into the Ping-Pong show (if you don't know, you shouldn't go) for a little family outing in Phuket.

Description

Don’t be tempted to pronounce the name of this Thai island as an obscenity meaning “forget it.” Pu-ged, as it’s pronouced, should not be forgotten on any Southeast Asian adventure. With miles of lovely beach and a hot climate, Phuket now earns most of its income from tourism, although in years past it earned a place in many ships’ logs as part of a trading route, producing tin and rubber. Hard hit in the 2004 tsunami, Phuket has made a full recovery, and is accessible by many international flights. Observing huge waterfalls, 40 native species of butterfly, a crocodile taming farm, or going sailing, yachting and scuba diving are all ways to experience the stunning nature in Phuket.
