The Duomo is very impressive. It was built between 1136-1382. It has a mixture of sculpture, paintings, and Pisan-influenced Romanesque-Gothic architecture. The church also contains works from Donatello and Michelangelo. You must see the pulpit in this church by Nicola Pisano. The panels on the octagonal pulpit were carved between 1265-1268 and depict scenes from the life of Christ. The church is gorgeous and very different from the other churches I have been in. Every inch of the church is decorated, maybe even too much but I was still able to appreciate the style. The church has striped black and white marble pillars which support the Duomo’s vaulted ceiling, painted blue with gold stars to resemble the night sky.

The architecture of the church is mesmerizing, and nearby you can find the footprint where the town hospital once stood.
