I only walked by it, but this building caught my eye the moment I saw it. Grandeur and glory are two words that come to mind.

The former embassy to the city of Venice (They sure don't make 'em like they used to!), this stunning palace intersects with so many streets, it can seem difficult to wander down an alley that doesn't feed into the Piazza. Head through town along the Viale di Fori Imperiali from here to pass along other marvels like the Roman Forum. In a city full of stunning marble columns, some of the architecture can inevitably begin to blur together in American minds. The Piazza Venezia suffers from no such case.

Busy road junction in the centre of the old city that contains the Vittorio Emanuelle Monument as well as the Palazzio Venezia from whose balcony Mussolini used to make his speeches.

The Piazza Venezia is the central heart, the very geometric center of Rome. Located on the historic Via del Corso it is a gateway to many historic area including the Roman Forum and the Capitoline Hill.

The Piazza Venezia is unusual in that it's more a melodramatic relic of fascism than anything else. Still, it's a dominant landmark that you can see for at least a mile up the Via Cavour. When I was in Rome there was an art exhibition held here that I went to see.

It's another historic sight to see in Rome, one among many. The steps to reach the stop are many and kind of steep, but it's worth it since you get a great view of the city. While it didn't take my breath away, it reminded me how opulent and special Rome is.

This square is located in the heart of Rome, at the end of the Via del Corso. From here it's only a short walk to some of Rome's most famous sights like the Campidoglio, the Forum Romanum and the Pantheon.
Unlike several more pleasant Roman piazza's like the Piazza del Popolo or the Piazza Navona, chaotic traffic dominates the square.

Piazza Venezia is a beautiful initial welcome to Rome. I recall our tour bus passing it the first time I came here half a year ago. I overheard some tourists a few days ago at Castel Sant'Angelo talking about how their taxi drove past here twice.

    It's impressive.

It's also wildly crazy and crowded. I prefer the more pedestrian-friendly piazze. All that traffic here drives me veramente matto!

From this square begins the guided tour of the Roman Forum that leads to the Colosseum, through a wide pedestrian promenade, a blast from the past, a must for history buffs!

I always love this plaza. A bit too busy and a bit difficult to navigate but the architecture is lovely and the views from the top are impressive. A nice to see of you can arrange it.

The Piazza Venezia is a major circus/roundabout and the central hub of Rome, in which many thoroughfares intersect. At one end is the monument to Vittorio Emanuele II. Watch were you walk as the traffic is always busy.

The view from this place is one of the best in the city and it's free. I guess not a lot of people know about it because it's not very crowded.

This building is massive and absolutely dominates the roundabout in front of it. A great welcome to Rome if you're coming in, or finding your way, by car.

This is one of the monuments upon the entrance of Piazza Venezia. It is downtown Rome. If you come here make sure you have not walked miles and miles before getting here because guards does not allow you to sit anywhere on this place, you just have to either walk, take photos, or climb their steep stairs. But the white color of this piazza is so cool to the eyes and very calming.

Molto ariosa, soleggiata, mondana e trafficata.

Piazza Venezia was one of the first things I saw in Rome since my tour bus went by it. There's a lot going on here and the Vittorio Emanuele II monument is here.

Description

This busy Roman piazza is a major crossroads and the site of the "wedding cake" or "typewriter" monument, a giant white marble structure dedicated to King Vittorio Emanuele and hiding the tomb of the unknown soldier. Inside is the Complesso Vittoriano museum, while outside tourists snap photos with men dressed as gladiators, Romans speed by on Vespas, and pigeons swoop and swarm overhead. Occasionally, a poliziotto (policeman) directs traffic.
