Rome's palm tree filled Piazza is just behind Termini Station and, these days, filled with Indian and Chinese markets, as well as renowned quirky discount Emporium MAS. The square was the geographic center for the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio, a multicultural band that has found a degree of international fame. If you're lucky, you'll catch them playing here of a summer's evening.

The only place in Rome to get some decent Indian food, Piazza Vittorio is also the Eternal City's Chinatown, as well as the site of cheap department store Mas, an essential stop for discounted cheap clothes appropriate for rehearsals, painting, or pyjamas. The Roman world fusion band, the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio, was formed around here and is a real pioneer in the fledgling Italian multicultural movement. The veg market just off the Piazza also has some of the best prices in Rome, not to mention curries and other ethnic spices that expats hanker for after a few months of simple, albeit delicious, Italian food.Recommended for:Backpackers
