It seems that every time I come to Seattle (which isn't very often), I end up at the Pike Brewing Company. The first time must have been over 10 years ago after coming back from a business trip in Anacortes. So these guys must be doing something right to still be standing.
It probably helps that Pike Brewing Company is so close to Pike Place Market and that they have a business arrangement with the Information Kiosk there. All I had to say was say microbrew and the friendly guy around the counter was giving me directions and handing me a discount coupon. Maybe I could have looked further, but I was in a "Shalom Bayit" moment. Gayle and I had just gotten off the Boat (Victoria Clipper from Victoria), we'd walked awhile, the cobblestone street at the Pike Place Market is hard on roller luggage, we had a lot of time before we had to be at the airport, and she was cranky and tired. Hence, a nearby place to sit and relax was what I needed first and foremost.
This place is big, noisy, and judging by the number of unbused tables, perhaps a little short handed. In hindsight, maybe this wasn't the best choice for peace and quiet. On the positive side, the beer is still good here and we enjoyed our shared Hummus Plate. We also appreciated that the front desk offered to put our bags away and that the guy waiting on us was fun, friendly, and fast. Most importantly, if gave us a chance to relax, refuel, and wish we had more time (including an overnight) in Seattle.
