Circa 33 serves good cocktail drinks and tasty food. I recommend their mac n' cheese with mushroom and green onions. They also feature a speakeasy and outdoor seating.

Smaller then Powell's on Burnside, but doesn't lack any of the charm, character or amazing inventory. This store is just as great but offers less hustle and bustle or crowds.

    Horse Brass Pub

0.53 mi from Pine State Biscuits
    4 reviews

Horse Brass Pub is a old-school style British pub serving drinks and English comfort food such as Bangers and Mash. There's no pretentious vibe here. It's just a down-home place where good drinks and good food is conducive to good conversation, making it a worthy pub.

    Laurelhurst Theatre

0.72 mi from Pine State Biscuits
    3 reviews

Perhaps the diviest - and also my favorite - of Portland's theater pubs, the Laurelhurst Theatre is the ideal place to grab a slice and a pint and watch a second run of, well, just about anything. Unlike the Bagdad, that only shows one or two movies at a time, the Laurelhurst operates like a real theater: several screens, no ...

    Bagdad Theater & Pub

0.31 mi from Pine State Biscuits
    3 reviews

Pizza, beer, and a cheap movie? Why did it take so long for someone to combine these in one convenient location? The McMenamin family was at the forefront of the theater-pub trend in Portland, and this gorgeously renovated vintage theater is the best of the best. Classic theater (as in plays)-style seats have been improved with long wooden tables, where ...

    Sapphire Hotel

0.79 mi from Pine State Biscuits
    2 reviews

Housed in what was once a seedy old brothel, the Sapphire Hotel is now a much classier place to spend your evening (and a good place to take a date). This dark cocktail bar features plush red decor and lots of cleverly-named mixed drinks as well as good, light food. There are jazz performances every Sunday.

I've been to a lot of second hand clothing stores and this was one of the nicest I've ever seen. It was simple but clean. The clothes in stock were on the whole quite high quality, varied and a good selection.

    The Red Light Clothing Exchange

0.31 mi from Pine State Biscuits
    2 reviews

At first glance, you might think Red Light is just a Burnside version of Buffalo Exchange - tons of clothes bought from other patrons sold at a low price. But where Buffalo Exchange straddles many genres of Portland fashion, Red Light leans more vintage, hipster, and, well, cool than Buffalo Exchange. This is the kind of place Buffalo Exchange might've ...

    Chopsticks Express II

0.75 mi from Pine State Biscuits
    2 reviews

Chinese food restaurant by day and karaoke den by night, Chopsticks (as it is colloquially called) is kind of like a weird superhero with the superpowers fill-your-belly-for-cheap and live-out-your-rockstar-fantasy. While the food is okay, its the Stargate karaoke lounge that really impresses. Cheap drinks, good specials, and great song selection to belt out your favorite jams. And after all the ...

    Belmont Station

0.53 mi from Pine State Biscuits

This is both a store and a bar. The store has 1000 varieties of bottled beer and also has a selection of British sweeties and other household items. You can drink your purchased beer in the bar next door for a bottling fee, I can't remember the amount though. It's a bit far out, a cab here is about $25.

Local 35 has a friendly and stylish vibe. It was a pleasure to walk around and admire not only the men's clothing, but the accessories, the presentation, the originality, and the selection. Store staff was also friendly and welcoming. I'm not sure what style choices would suit me best, but I think Gayle would enjoy doing some major damage here ...

Great new addition to the Hawthorne area of Portland, Oregon. It's a somewhat smaller restaurant and bar but the service was great and the food delicious. I sampled the veggie sandwich on spelt bread with sweet potato fries paired with a crisp hard cider. Perfect combination both filling and flavorful! This little place is definitely worth checking out.
