Great Neapolitan style pizza in the Mission. I have a couple pizza-loving friends in the area, and while SF has quite a few delicious options for all types of pizza, this one tends to be mentioned in revered tone. I've assumed it's a bit of a pizza-mecca. Now that I've tried their pizza this past visit, I understand now why my friends love this place. Popular choices are the margherita and the salcicchia.Recommended for:

We saw on yelp that the wait is usually long, so my friend and I called in an order to go. Delicious thin crust pizzas and salads. We got the Margherita and an insalata tricolore. I loved the vinaigrette and cheese in the salad. We grabbed the food and walked over to Dolores Park to eat since the weather was beautiful!Recommended for:

Around the corner, Delfina's Pizza will make your mouth water whenever you hear the name once you have had it. You can even take it to go if the wait is too long for you. There is always waitlist at Delfina. Since this flat is around the corner, you can enjoy it in the elegant dining room.

I think that Pizza delfina is extremely over-rated and does not live up to all the hype. While I love the coziness of this restaurant, the pizza's thin crust doesnt lend it to much depth of flavor. I thought the toppings and sauce were in a dire need of salt. The service was also just okay, but that was due to how packed the place was. If you are already in the Mission and want great pizza, just head to Beretta nearby.

Hmm... maybe I'm just not into pizza as much as I thought I was. Perhaps Little Star has spoiled me. Pizzeria Delfina is just okay to me. Not buzz-worthy. And DEFINITELY not 1.5 hour wait worthy.
Proscuitto Pie = Meh. Proscuitto was way too salty here. The rest of the pie was boring and tasteless.
Salsiccia = Good taste, but the pizza gets soggy after about 5 minutes. Depends on what you like I guess, but soggy pizza isn't what I'd consider delicious.
Meatballs = Good, but you can't really mess up meatballs.
Fried Pig's Ear = A little too salty, but it was okay.
Pizzeria Delfina is okay -- nothing special whatsoever. I'd prefer Little Star over this any day.

I love the atmosphere of Pizzeria Delfina. They serve a mean slice of pizza pie and it's never really super crowded. Actually, I don't think you can order by slice. It's a great place to people watch as you see people walking to Bi-Rite Creamery or Store. And then there's the food traffic to other eateries in the area.
My favorite dish here actually isn't a pizza but the fried fish with their aioli. Great munchies for a pleasant evening.

The best pie in the city? That is a possibility. Calling themselves "Neapolitan inspired" is just technicality. Their pizzas might not be certified strictly Neapolitan but the taste and style are every bit authentic with only minor New York style influence.
Their Napoletana pizza was fabulous. The pie was thin and crisp with a hint of New York-style chewiness, beautifully hand-tossed and baked to perfection. Ingredients were high quality and sparkling fresh. The rich savory sensation from the anchovies and capers were well balanced by sweet and tangy tomato sauce.
On a good day Zero Zero could still beat Delfina in terms of flavor but the pies are more nicely crafted here. Which one do I like more? The jury is still out.

I LOVE the pizza here. Outside of Rome, it's the best pizza I've had. The crust is thin and crisp and the toppings simple and fresh. Strange, but it's tough to get the simple things right. Delfina does.

Love this restaurant! They have two restaurants next to each other, one is the pizzeria and the other is an Italian restaurant. I have dined at both and am happy to report that both are amazing. Since they are great, so be prepared to wait. In the regular restaurant, the white bean and squid salad and quail were delicious. I am happy with every pizza I tried at the Pizzeria.

**GOOD ITALIAN FOOD BUT NOT WOW WOW**
I used to think Delfina was the shiz of all Italian restaurants in San Francisco. But that was many years ago. After my second trip, I found it to be slightly above average.
Service was solid and the front desk receptionist seated us within 45 minutes without proper reservations.
However, kitchen service was spotty at times. We had a nice glass of refreshing white wine, but waited 15-20 minutes for our order and then an additional 15 minutes for our starters.
So, as a result, we requested pizza next door, but the manager and our waitress politely declined. Restaurant policies are so meh.
Cannot fault the management staff. They were good: friendly, efficient, and courteous.
I ordered the Little Gem Salad, with Point Reyes blue cheese, sieved egg and radishes which was fresh and tasty, but overall, not impressive.
The entree, gnocchi, however, was very good. Good flavors and consistency.
We did not order dessert, but the bill averaged out to be $50 pp with a glass of wine.
Definite fan of anything pasta-related at Delfina, but as far as everything else, I would say it to be so-so.
RECOMMEND the gnocchi.

Best pizza ever. It's gourmet, filling and delicious. If you are tired of the regular 'ol pepperoni slices that give you heart burn, Delfina is a much better option. Grab one to go and head to Dolores park for picnic.
