We like the pizza at Montecarlo, although the place has got touristy since 2008 or so. It's on our list of traditional Roman food for its excellent carbonara, one of Rome's flagship pastas.

Really good pizza in Rome! I heard it's from the same family that owns "Da Baffeto". The pizza is just as good from Baffetto (my favorite pizza).
I been there for lunch few times (Montecarlo during the day and Baffeto at night, basically I just eat pizza and gelato when I go to Rome hahahha), the service is good, people are friendly. I high recommend it!

The Pizza at Montecarlo is very good, but it's become a tourist destination more than the "real" Roman pizzeria. Your best bet is Da Baffetto 2 behind Campo de'Fiori, Da Remo in the Testaccio zone, or Nuovo Mondo (also Testaccio). My personal favorite is Baffetto-2 because it's a bit less crowded in the outside seating, but all are excellent.

The thing is that you go to montecarlo when the queue to Baffetto-2 across the street is out of any moral perception:)and you go to Baffetto-2 because the original Baffetto is so famous among the tourists that hardly any roman can support that waiting list...But the point is that all 3 spots are owned by the same italian family, so the thin, crispy with a bit burned edges pizza is guaranteed in all three. And its worth of all that pain around waiting and dealing with roman service ))

Rude Roman waiters, salty, chewy carbonara, and authentic cappricciosa pizza with a sunny side up egg smack in the middle are the delights of this institution. Show up, queue for a table and worship at the altar of casual Roman dining.
