The dark concrete walls of the PJ Hotel doesn't exactly look inviting from the outside, but inside is a totally different story. The staff are all extremely friendly and most of them speak English. I had a million questions about the surrounding area and attractions, and they answered all of them with patience and fluency. There is access to a laundry room and conference/business center for people who are staying longer, and the hotel even has a "Ladies' Floor," which was decorated in a more “lady-friendly way,” and as a lady I like the idea of having a floor dedicated entirely to ladies. The location of this hotel was also pretty great for me, because it's so near a big traditional market, Gwangjang, which has some of the best Korean food in town!Recommended for:

This hotel is a strange monolith of a place from the outside. It's situated in a long, characterless building in a bit of a non-descript area, surrounded by markets selling mostly hotel catering equipment.
It's decent inside though. The staff are friendly with ok English and the rooms are as long and thin as the building, but a good size. Many of them have terraces too. They also have a special 'ladies floor', which is only for women, but has the bonus of optional footspas for an extra charge.
If you have buisness in the area it's a reasonable place to stay and it's not far from central tourist attractions, but there are plenty of closer hotels to choose from.Recommended for:

You could almost confuse PJ Hotel for a bunker or military building for its grey, concrete stone exterior but the inside is more welcoming and rather large for a hotel of its range.
The standard double is a comfortable size for two and the room was clean with the large windows a plus. The bathroom seemed just a tad older in comparison to the bedroom but was efficient and neat.
The hotel offers a number of perks including restaurant, cafe, free wifi for guests, laundry service, and is attached to a major Korean bank on the first floor- Woori Bank- making currency exchanges convenient. There's even a souvenir shop attached to the hotel. The hotel also offers a number of day trip packages for sale to attractions near Seoul such as Everland amusement park, Paju premium outlets, Nami Island, etc. The Korean restaurant in the basement was currently undergoing renovations as of September 2014 and the staff said it would be closed for at least another month. The hotel staff was mostly helpful but often seemed preoccupied with other things.
The hotel is located almost equal distance between three different subway stations which is convenient for guests to get around.
Interestingly, PJ Hotel is known to locals primarily for its wedding venue and is almost always booked for weddings on weekends. Couples who get married at the hotel's wedding venue can stay at the hotel for one night a year later for free!Recommended for:
